Why Would Romney Do That?

I get why Mitt Romney would produce a TV ad showing President Obama saying words he didn't. He's a liar, and he wants a share of the dummy vote currently pledged to Michele Bachman, Herman Cain, and Rick Perry. Politifact gave Romney's ad the worst rating possible, Pants On Fire.

But why would Mitt Romney also lie about his first name? In tonight's debate, Romney said "I'm Mitt Romney and yes, Wolf, that's also my first name." Of course, he man's first name is Willard. Mitt is his middle name.

I get why he would lie about stuff a lot, he's a liar. But why would he lie about his first name? What is wrong with him?
Romney is just being a typical lying politician. Do you really expect him to tell the truth? What is wrong with you?
From owebama's last campaign:

During his presidential campaign, Obama said that his mother died of cancer after being denied coverage for a preexisting condition. He used her image in a campaign ad, repeated the claim in debates, and used the same rhetoric as President when he tried to sell ObamaCare to the American people. But a new book by New York Times reporter Janny Scott says that Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, had health insurance through her employer and was only denied disability insurance.

Shovel-ready jobs: When Obama was selling his $787 billion stimulus package, he consistently bragged about how shovel-ready construction jobs would be funded across the nation. Even the President later admitted that was a lie, when he told the New York Times: “There’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects.”

No lobbyists: During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama said: “We have the chance to tell all those corporate lobbyists that the days of them setting the agenda in Washington are over. … I don't take a dime of their money, and when I am President, they won't find a job in my White House.” At least a dozen former lobbyists got top jobs in his administration at the beginning of his presidency, according to Politico, and National Public Radio reported the Obama administration was granting waivers to lobbyists to circumvent the ban.

And how do we know that is right ?

I guess it's on his "Birth Certificate" ..................................... for all of us to see.

Rick

I was going to respond, but I figure I'd make better use of my time banging my head against the wall.
I think the Democrats are going to have a lot of fun over the next year reminding voters that Mitt Romney lies about his own name.

I mean, what trustworthy person does that?
The last election was largely clean and based on the issues - at least amongst the actual candidates (PAC groups not withstanding). If this president is as awful as the GOP claims he is then they could use his actual quotes and record to go after him. The fact that they are resorting to fabricated lies and quotes says alot.

Exactly.

What Romney's doing shows at least two things:

First, it shows that Romney is not confident that he can win on issues. Romney and his staff put tremendous thought into their first ad, and they decided to use a Pants on Fire lie about Obama.

Second, it shows that he realizes not enough smart people will vote to make him President. He realizes he'll need the votes of dumb, gullible people who won't know that Obama never said what Romney's first ad claims he said, that the words were actually those of a McCain staffer.

A confident politician would never lie like Romney does.
First of all, all politicians lie. You say " A confident politician would never lie like Romney does". I concur - they would lie like Obama did.
