Why Would Romney Say That?

"I like being able to fire people who provide services to me."

I guess that's the attitude of a job cremator.

Good luck becoming Mayor of Springfield, Mr. Burns.
He says things just to piss you off. Hopefully, if he gets nominated he can fire Obama.
Looks like Romney is going to be our next President

BTW, that Ron Paul guy is kind of a space-shot.

Rick
The quote is being used as a lead in many stories and is taken out of context. It is not until one reads deeper that you get the whole story. Fire was probably a poor choice of words but what he was saying was that if one receives poor services you have the option of going to another business.

Since chilly provides good insight on travel I will use this example. If Hertz provides a rental car that is dirty and breaks down you have the choice to "fire Hertz" and go to Avis

I completely agree the quote is being twisted and taken out of context and is representative of whats wrong with politics today.

But do you really shed a tear for Romney considering the hack-misquote he personally sponcered against Obama a few weeks ago? And do you really take people seriously when they shrugged off that attack while crying foul about this new one?
PJ,

It's the old story.....how do you know a politician is lying? Answer: His lips are moving.

LOL, credibility......PJ has some. Chilcoot has none.
I did not take Romney's quote of out context. I quoted him exactly.

Moreover, he wasn't quoting someone else. He was expressing his own thought. Which makes me a lot fairer to him than he is to our President.

He enjoys being able to fire people who provide him services. He enjoys it.

It's even worse when the context was considered. He's so rich that he's in a position to fire his health insurer. Which of us has loads of health insurers angling for our business, like they were barbers or landscapers? Anyone?

Few Americans can do that. Most Americans have beg our insurers not to fire us. We get sick, they find reasons not to honor the policy, and they fire us as customers. They might even enjoy it. Like Romney says he does.
The worst (funniest) part about his statement has nothing to do with him "firing" people. It has do to with the completely contradictory point to his own policy.

He says he wants to be able to get rid of one provider and replace then with another...which is exactly what Obamacare allows you to do with the exchanges due to be set up next year. Meanwhile, Romney promises to repeal Obamacare and kill the very exchanges he says he supports.

Its hilarious watching Republicans demagogue policy which they secretly support. They keep tripping over their own feet in the process.

You can do that now without obamacare unless you are in a company/union/govt plan
