WOW BOARD DEAD

WOW--THE FIRST TOPIC I POSTED WAS "HAS THE BOARD LOST A LITTLE INTEREST"....WAS LOOKING TODAY AND IT HAS LOST A LOT OF INTEREST. WAS SCANNING DATES ON TOPICS AND IT HAS BEEN QUITE A FEW DAYS BETWEEN POSTING AND REPLIES.....USE TO BE A BOARD OF NEW LAS VEGAS INFORMATION, INTERESTING TRIP REPORTS, MEMBER MEETS, AND THINGS HAPPENING IN LAS VEGAS AND THESE TOPICS WERE ALWAYS FULL OF NEW STUFF.....I SEE THERE ARE A LOT OF OLDER MEMBERS NOT EVEN POSTING ANY MORE....LAST POSTING UNDER NEW MEMBERS SECTION IS REAL OLD......DID SEE WHERE SOMEONE (I BELIEVE CAPTAIN BILL--NOT SURE ) DID POST THAT THE NEW ACG LISITNG WERE OUT. I DID VISIT THE SITE....LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A LITTLE IMPROVEMENT FROM LAST YEAR STATIONS IS BACK..........HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET SOME OF THE NEWER MEMBERS TO POSTS SOME TOPICS AND MAYBE WAKE UP A FEW OF THE OLDER MEMBERS THAT FOR THE MOST PART ALWAYS HAD INTERESTING THINGS OF INTEREST TO POST.......
I agree that there seems to be less action on the boards than there had been previously. I'll admit that I fairly often read posts but do not often actually post anything myself. Maybe if all of us "readers" starting posting more often the boards would be more active. Personally, I visit Las Vegas 4-5 times a year from New York State. I play video poker almost exclusively. I enjoy the game, but, like others, see a somewhat negative trend for the pay tables which certainly lowers our expected return and, in the longer term, probably reduces the number of visits and the amount we put into the machines. This also can logically lead to less time spent on Vegas boards and fewer posts. Another problem this and other Vegas sites may have is the increase of gambling opportunities in many other states. Here in NYS they have multiple casinos and are proposing many more. To me, they are not the same as Vegas casinos, but they don't require a fairly costly air flight so they will be attractive to some former Vegas visitors. Hopefully, this and other Vegas sites will continue to have adequate activity to keep them up and running.
I feel that a BIG reason why there is less posting is that there is less gambling info to share. Without coupons, good games and comps, many have lost interest in what is left to play. The casinos have tightened up every game with reduced pay tables, 6/5 bastardized blackjack and high table game minimums. Also the sky high air fares, bag fees, excessive rental car fees, and the insulting rip off "resort fees" have turned off many who used to love Vegas. Compared to the Vegas of 5 years ago, today's Vegas sucks.Everything is more expensive and Vegas is no longer the attraction it used to be. I and many others just do not like what the bean counters and corporate mentality have done to Vegas.
You are so right! It certainly is a lot more expensive than it was five years ago to make the trip. The resort fees sure don't help!

What I see a lot today in Vegas is what I call the "California" influence. Many properties seem just interested in making money from their clubs, drinks, and high food prices on the weekend. Here in Minnesota now I can play good 3:2 BJ with usually a $5 min (sometimes $10 min. on a busy weekend night), 9/5 DDB vp and 6/5 super aces at my local Native American casino. Video poker is just as good as most CET properties on the strip and the blackjack is better! One local casino has 12 oz. domestic tap beers for $1 on Wed. and Thurs. nights from 7-midnight in their main lounge. Both local casinos have excellent prime rib dinner buffets on Friday and Saturday night for $16.95. Beats the heck out of those Las Vegas buffet prices! I love a good prime rib buffet! The one casino also gives me 2 free rooms per month Sun.-Thurs. I know others that gamble more that also get weekend rooms free. I haven't been to Vegas since 2011. Might go next year if get a good deal and good airfare.
Hey I just got rt for 109 on Spirit-yeah I know, but we can go with 1 suitcase so it ends up at 129 each from msp in January.
Great deal on airfare from MSP, Jokare!!
Darn economy. Haven't been to LV in a while either. Still enjoy visiting LVA but slow loading is a buzz kill.

Used to be a regular poster but it's been years since a bunch of us talked nightly on the "FREE" side. Playing live poker locally and traveling to poker tournaments in nearby states has taken much of my free time away from not only LVA but other things I used to do on the computer. Also my Vegas trips have gone from 5-6 per year to 2-3.
I just rejoined LVA after a long absence. My subscription ran out at the end of 2009. It was that year when I last went to Vegas. I am returning in April of this year. During my years away, I would visit the free side sometimes, and noticed the reduction in posting, and the number of regulars who weren't there any more. I'm surely looking forward to visiting Vegas again, but what I am reading sounds discouraging. Car rental rates are much higher than I ever encountered before. You would think that with so many other options around the country, the Vegas casinos would be offering lots of good deals to entice more people to come, and not doing foolish things like the annoying resort fees.
