Once again,Lewis attempts to obfuscate my post with his dismissive arrogance. Sane, intelligent people will take the time to watch the video I have posted here - Take a good look at all of the women who are no longer alive because of illegal immigrants - https://www.facebook.com/brandon4missouri/videos/908918468747753?idorvanity=407146807437555

Tracking down the perpetrators of the crimes and bringing them to justice is definitely a noble effort and one I can support.

I want all perpetrators of violent crime to be charged and tried in court. That's what I expect by both society and government.

However we must remember that all people are created equal. We must not forget that all people are entitled to equal protection under the law.

A lot of people have been detained that aren't even reasonably suspected of an immigration violation or any other crime.

People are being targeted and detained because of how they look and sound. They are being denied access to a lawyer and access to habeas corpus. They are pressured into signing documents they don't understand.

The administration has flipped the burden of proof on its head by detaining random people on the street in roving patrols and demanding they prove they are not guilty of immigration crimes.

If the government is allowed to "other" certain groups and deny equal protection than they could do it to anybody. Either everybody has rights or nobody has rights.

Seeking justice for victims of violent crime is both reasonable and necessary.

However in our quest for justice we must strive to remember that too often the path to righteousness and the road to hell are paved with the same good intentions.

This is when we must ask ourselves if we should learn this lesson from the many examples in history, or ignore those lessons and become another example.

LiveFree, I don't think that Trump, MAGA, ICE, etc. have good intentions. I think they're scapegoating immigrants (not just ILLEGULS) in order to gain political power. Hitler and the Jews all over again.

If Trumpf and his cult genuinely wanted to purge all the illegal immigrants from this country, they would conduct systematic reviews of immigration status, not via raids or street arrests, but some other less violent method. And due process would have to be observed for anyone suspected of violating US law.

Tom tells us that there are eleventy kabillion skillion ILLEGULS in the US, so such an effort would be monumental and cost a fortune in taxpayer money. I read an estimate from 2023 that estimated the total cost at over $4,000 per taxpayer. Does everyone really want that?

And that's why MAGA parrots Trumpf's bleat that THAR AWL CRINIMALS AND RAPISTS. Makes the problem sound more dire than it is and "justifies" government use of force and denial of rights.

MAGAs who say so what, they're only brown people, should read the poem "First They Came."

The the good intentions I was speaking of is the desire most of us share to bring  violent criminals to justice. (Regardless of immigration status)  We must all be cautious to not sacrifice our rights at the alter of convenience to achieve that, or any other desire.

I believe that it is quite likely the most evil tyrannical dictators, and those that followed or supported them THOUGHT they had good intentions. They usually BELIEVED they were doing the right thing.

Yes, but only someone who believes the MAGA bullshit THAR AEL CRINIMALS will approve of all the raids and roundups as well as excuse the violations of civil rights and the law.
