So it is cold and nothing going on so we are watching the Datona 500 today . Suddenly my wife who is from Indiana Says hey do you know who that announcer is. That is Larry McRenolds. We played 5 dollar blackjack at Bills Gamling hall with him back in the day. Just a cool memory. Any else ever play with a celeberty
I used to play a lot of BJ at the Dunes way back when. At various times, I found myself sharing a table with Redd Foxx (nasty, foulmouthed bastard), Frank Sinatra (about 70% of Redd Foxx), Diana Ross (betting $10 a hand and charming the bejeezus out of everyone), and James Worthy (L.A. Laker, clearly drunk and betting black chips like confetti).
Not sure if this counts, but I once was playing blackjack at the old Sahara in Tahoe when a player at my table lost his last $20 on a double down and immediately shot himself in the head. All he managed to do, though, was knock himself unconscious. He woke up in the ER with nothing worse than a splitting (!) headache. They interviewed him on local Reno TV. So I guess you might consider him a fifteen minutes of fame celebrity.
