The ACTUAL Gerrymandering in America

I will take the AOC clones. The GOP is a party of extremism populated by extremists. Most Americans want what AOC does: better healthcare, more consumer protections, wage growth that keeps pace with inflation, affordable housing, affordable college and an overall higher standard of living for Americans.  In essence an American Government that realizes it's job is the betterment of it's citizens not large corporations and special interests.

The GOP has managed to convince people, including PJ, that these positions are extreme. That's sad.

If they were not "extreme", then why do DemocRATs gerrymand and why are they up in arms now that the Republicans are doing what the DemocRATs have done - and continue to do - for decades?

Because you're an evil little idiot?

The overriding fact is that the DemocRATs have gerrymandered many states to favor DemocRAT representation in Congress for decades. These corrupt DemocRATs have illegally controlled Congress many a year because of this  gerrymandering - and because of this Congress has not been able to enact legislation that benefitted America and Americans and only benefitted the DemocRATs anti- America agendas.

Actually, in poll after poll after poll, it has been shown that the core Democrat positions are popular with a majority of voters.

And it's not "anti-American" to hold positions that YOU disagree with, you laughably arrogant tiny little fuckface.

AOC also thinks there should not be a border wall with Mexico....we should not deport anybody.....and we should replace our all police officers with social workers.

but my problem with her is not her ideology.   I agree with her positions more often than not.   My problem with her is the uncompromising position she stands in where she won't negotiate even within her own party.    If you are going to pass laws you need to be able to compromise with people from more moderate districts.    She doesn't like to do that and frequently takes an all or nothing approach to her job.   You know who else does that?   The tea party caucus on the right.

And that all or nothing approach has worked for the GOP for the most part. They don't even try to compromise with Democrats to pass legislation.  They just present take it or leave it offers. Democrats won't win very many elections when the most powerful tool in their Arsenal is a sternly written letter.

I'm with Gavin Newson on this. It is time to punch Republicans in the teeth, not once, not twice but over and over again.

I dont know that a left wing tea party serves AMerica any better than a right wing one.    Wouldnt it be nice if Congress represented the majority common sense group of people in the country instead of just the fringe?

I agree California should match Texas' redistricting plan - not because I think its a good idea but because you cant let one group cheat while the other plays fair.    So I guess we're stuck with two groups of cheaters.   OK then.    I cant imagine how anyone thinks thats good for America.

Kevin, that is a glib and pointless reply to David's question.  It says you have no answer, just taking an opportunity to insult someone without offering a cogent counterpoint.

I don't favor or disfavor any poster on this forum.  Some I agree with more or less, sometimes depending on the topic.  Even in the most inane of posts I often can find a kernel of something I am uninformed or curious or undecided about.

You often present indepth replies to my points, agreeing or disagreeing, which I appreciate.

pj thinks it is fair for all of New England to not have any Republican representives in Congress.  Illinois got an F for their redistrciting anf it is ok for NY to ignore their state constitution and have their democratic legislature to draw their own maps taking out several Republican seats.

The Republicans are just catching up to the democrats.

Candy, I'll answer that. First, Millerscum is a dishonest, Trump-licking little weasel who isn't interested at all in any kind of discussion. He just posts here to start arguments and pitch insults

Second, the question he asked was a "why do you beat your wife?" question--one based on a false premise, and therefore not unanswerable. It would be the same if I asked, "Why are all Republicans evil Trump-licking pedos?" when I know that the premise isn't true--only 97% are.

Third, I know damn well, and so does he, that Republican gerrymandering is and has been much more egregious than Democratic gerrymandering. Will he EVER admit that? No.

Fourth, why is Republicans wiping out five Democratic Congressional seats just swell but California redistricting away three Republican seats horridly evil? Is this just another of those things that are perfectly OK when Republicans do it but the crime of the century when Democrats do it?

So I don't expect an honest discussion from Millerscum, because he himself is fundamentally dishonest, and so is the cult that manipulates his puppet strings.

You said I have no answer to his question. That's not true. I have and had an answer, which you can infer from this post. I just didn't deem Millerscum worthy of it. He only gets my mockery. Not my respect.

Why should any New England state have Republican representatives when Republicans ran for every open seat in 2024 and each and every one of them lost?

Oh, I forgot, you don't believe in democracy.

I could ask you a similar question about states like Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina...but you would bluster and weasel.
