I have friends who defend Trump, while predicting dooms day for the next 4 years, spouting the Dems stole the election and calling Obama the worst president ever.  I do not understand their rational.  I have my suspicions, subtle racism, steady diet of right wing media and strong conservative beliefs.  The ones I have the most difficulty accepting are definitely intelligent, high functioning and successful.  The ones I I have an easier time accepting are not very cerebral.  I can walk away from these friends, not pissed off, but with almost a sense of sympathy,

I try not to engage in politics with some friends because It's so frustrating, especially the higher functioning friends.

What I find disturbing is that I have friends who are definitely good people; yet, they've boarded the Trump Train and are prepared to ride it over a cliff if they must. I've asked them, doesn't the way this man acts and speaks go directly against all of your principles and beliefs? And the worst part is listening to them self-justify and weasel. "He's not really like that." "The fake news media isn't fair to him." "That's OK as long as he...(insert excuse)".

And yeah, like for you, it's easier to take this from the idiots who presumably don't know any better. The smart people, the good people---you wonder just what it is that makes Trump so attractive to them. Maybe they were conservative racist asshats all along and Trump has given them an outlet? It's puzzling.
