Affordable Care Act Unconstitutional

Your questions have been answered, Tom!  And, yes, 2/3 of Americans favor Medicare for all.

I cant seem to find a poll to see how many Americans favor a system for insurance companies rescinding policies of their sick customers and re-opening the dounut hole.    But Maybe you can .

Pro Lifer Tom wants to euthanize 5% of the population.

With the current Medicare program $50 trillion in debt, how would PJ pay for it?  California looked at this type of program & rejected it due to costs.

"Pro Lifer Tom wants to euthanize 5% of the population."  Never said that.  I merely pointed out that 5% of the population incurs 30% of the costs.  Sanders fantasy doesn't address the issue.

And of that 5% 95% are currently on some sort of government insurance Medicaid, Medicare or some other program.  How does private for profit insurance address this?  The "Sanders fantasy" addresses this by throwing everyone into the same pool. The government gets charged so much for these patients now because they have no negotiating power. The meds/treatment is life or death for this 5% so the pharmaceutical companies rape the government.

Of all the medical insurance programs medicare/medicaid fraud rates are the highest.

California looked into this & found that they would have to double taxes to pay for it.  As a result they dropped it.  Colorado & Vermont also tried to no no avail.

Still no concrete answer on how to pay for it & the $50 trillion in current unfunded liabilities.

Medicare for all, but you pay a premium based on income, just like Obama-care, would be a good compromise

with a sliding scale depending on tax revenue. I bet Trump would agree to this, but DEMS and GOP probably

not because it makes too much sense, and yes smokers, overweight, pre-existing may need to pay a little more.

What needs to happen ASAP is for children to be educated of the necessity to plan AHEAD for aging, retirement, and medical care.  Instead of the sticker shock of sudden age and infirmity, they should be educated to...get educated, seek jobs that provide retirement benefits including eligibility for a health care plan.  Don't be dependent on any government plan for free medical care.

My parents had no such discussion with me.  Luckily, I knew I didn't want to live with them forever.  I knew I would need a regular source of income, and this required an occupation.  Preferably one I would like, one with many job openings, and one with BENEFITS.  Luckily I fell into a good situation, by God's grace.  At the time of my retirement (with a pension and health care) I saw the youngsters bouncing job to job when the current job got hard.  Maybe the next job paid a dollar an hour more, but did it have a retirement plan?   Would the company provide continuation of a health insurance plan?   I know when they worked with me they were loathe to contribute more than the minimum to their retirement, and invariably they cashed it out when they left.

Or, marry into wealth.  But that isn't a given.

"Or, marry into wealth"

Or you can play the slots.

Candy is on the right track, I would like to take it a step further. Our nations schools need to educate students to learn to take care of their bodies. Obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and drug abuse take their toll. Many people who require expensive long term care are or have been abusers with no concern about future health issues. In my world, these people are the reason for skyrocketing health care costs. They should be required to pay for their excesses with higher premiums - and not be given a pass by bleeding heart vote seeking politicians who bemoan the self induced plight of these persons. I see these people everyday at the buffets, on the streets, in the bars and eventually, in the emergency rooms. Society has been "educated" to have a blind eye to these people - after all, according to the commericals, "it is not their fault". I realize there are many people with real health issues - they are the ones who need and should get proper health treatment. Our body is the home in which each of us lives. Neglecting/abusing our "home" will become the underlying cause for the health issues people face as they age.

Right, David.  Why, in this day and time, would a person even start smoking?  Expensive, dirty, damages every organ system, and so hard to quit.  Madness.
