Airlines cut routes from Canada to US vacation destination

That's not what Trump sold when he was running. He said he was going to lower prices. Practically every thing he has done on the economic side raises prices and breaks that promise. Trump promised a pain free economic paradise.

These are YOUR words - "Trump promised a pain free economic paradise." -- President Trump never said what you clain here that he said. ---  After 2+ months, prices are starting to come down and will continue to do so. Correcting the damage brain dead Biden and the corrupt DemocRats did to America the past 4 years will take time to correct. By the way, where was your outrage during the past 4 years as the economy went into the tank?

The economy didn't go into the tank, after the disruptions caused by Trump covid and the hundreds of thousands of needless deaths caused by his stupidity. It gradually improved and was very strong as of 2024.

Prices are NOT coming down. That would be deflation. They are rising more slowly. But when the Trumpiffs kick in, prices will skyrocket.

How can you deny that, Dumb Davey Dog? The Trumpiffs will make all imported goods more expensive. That is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Trump promised he would do.

Change aways bring pain.  Cutting spending will bring pain.  Cutting stupid shit, will not bring pain, and most Liberals,  because they are uninformed, are against cuts to stupid spending.  Our current spending level is unsustainable.

Canadian travel to the US is "Stupid spending"?

Joking about the 51st state will cost the economy and our government billions in unrecognized revenue....all so president dipshit can enact what Boilerman calls "change".

Met a decent amount of Canadians on our Mexican Riviera cruise this week,  and many of them don't care for Trump, and would have canceled their cruises if they could have gotten it refunded.

This is for the folks that think it is no big deal. I urge you to take a look at this as you will see how energized and organized the Canadians are.

I like this one mostly because of the respectful tone and truthfulness, which is not something you find with MAGA. It's long, so I'm sure our MAGA folks won't get all the way through, maybe over a few days, they may make it.

"Tip for Letting the CEOs know directly that you have stopped buying their stuff.

General Discussion 💬🇨🇦

So, when I'm really unhappy with a company, I have a tactic that has worked pretty well in the past. This week, I tried it with a US company I have been pretty loyal to over time to let them know I moved on to a Canadian brand.

The trick is this:

Step 1: Find the name of the CEO. I usually find it in the 'About Us' section or the 'Our team's page or on a press release about their quarterly earnings report if they are publicly traded. LinkedIn is another path that has worked in the past.

Step 2: look up the pattern of the company's email addresses. Usually looking for a media relations contact on their press releases page gives a link to an actual person. This tells you the standard pattern their IT uses for issuing individuals addresses.

Eg: [email protected]

Step 3: use those two pieces of information to predict the direct address of the CEO.

Step 4: let the CEO know directly that you are boycotting and why.

Here's my message to the CEO of Nature's Bakery from earlier this week:

"Hello Mr. Gardiner,

I hope your day is going well.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm a teacher in Vancouver, Canada. Your fig bars have been my go-to for keeping myself going during a busy school day where I don't often have time for a real lunch. I have also shared them regularly with my students when they don't have a lunch. I've spent hundreds or perhaps thousands of dollars on your product over the last few years.

I am taking the unusual step of writing to you to let you know that, sadly, I will not be buying your product any more. Your President has begun an attack on my country's sovereignty and the centrepiece of his attack are tariffs. For the first time in my life, I have to consider that our neighbours in the US are our adversaries. They support a government that is using lies and economic warfare to induce my country to become a vassal state.

Among the things I can do is stop buying American products. You should know that I will not be buying your products any more. The Canadian product I bought today isn't as good as yours. That's a small sacrifice.

If you want to protect your business, I encourage you to work with your fellow CEOs to send a message to your government: trade wars and attacks on the sovereignty of other nations are bad for everyone. Bad for business. Bad for regular people. Bad for you and your employees.

I hope you use your position of power as a corporate leader to help bring sanity back to your country.

Sincerely,

Koala Former Customer"

I got a reply from the CEO the next day:

"Koala,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. The serious and respectful tone of your letter in a world of short toxic social media posts makes it even more sincere and poignant. I want to begin by expressing my deep appreciation for your work as an educator. We’re grateful that you’ve been a loyal consumer but especially grateful for the dedication and care you’ve shown your students. I’m disappointed to know that our snacks won’t be by your and your students’ side but please know that I understand your frustration – and your decision.

I actually grew up and was educated in Saskatchewan and I still have family and friends in the area. With those Canadian roots and as a business leader, I’m troubled by the current state of trade, but I remain hopeful that there will be a near-future course correction. The #1 ingredient in our bars is amazing Whole Wheat Flour, all sourced from Canada and also Canola oil so we are doubly concerned as both an importer and exporter. Nature’s Bakery takes immense pride in offering products consumers feel good about purchasing and regardless of the circumstance, whether it is in our hands or not, receiving feedback like yours is profoundly impactful and please know I’ve shared broadly with my team and parent company. Nothing is more important than our consumers’ satisfaction and experience.

I hope for the opportunity to regain your trust and business in the future. Again, thank you for taking time out of your busy day to reach out.

Steve Gardiner Nature’s Bakery CEO"

I'm going to take the time to do this once a week. Where I notice a significant change in my spending habits, I will be sure to let the CEO know precisely why."

Max, thanks so much for sharing that! It suggests one good way--maybe the only way--for us, and for people everywhere, to circumvent the actions and cruelties of our current horrible, evil government run by maniacal trolls: disengage. Avoid trade that's tariffed: smuggle, substitute, lie. Do without, don't report, conceal and obfuscate transactions.

The reply to the letter illustrates just how STOOPID, STOOPID, STOOPID the Canadian Trumpiffs really are. Trump truly does not comprehend how much trade crosses the border--and how much and how many ingredients, components, and parts cross in each direction. His car tax, for example, ignores the fact that the average "American" car crosses the border eight times in the process of assemby.

DO NOT pay your income taxes as long as the Turd is in office. Drag it out, ask for extensions, and then tell them that you're not paying. With the Turd's gutting of the IRS, it'll be decades before they get around to you!

And tell everyone who advertises how much they are a proud Trump supporter what an asshole they are and how much pain and suffering they've helped to cause. Make your day--spit on a MAGA!

I guess I just think differently If Canadians stop buying our stuff or coming to our country, that just means more great deals for american products or destinations in our own country.  Do stock prices drop temperaraly.  Maybe, but I am looking to buy American anyway, regardless of who is in office.  I support our country, and and always look for ways to prosper no matter which party is in control.  That is what makes our country great.  Hopefully flights will come down. Hopefully room prices will drop.  Hopefully we get better offers in Vegas.  Hopefully we never in our lifetimes see the price increases we did under Joe Biden.  And as others on this forum have stated, I did just fine under Biden and I bought American whenever possible.  I will continue to buy American under Trump, and I will be just fine.  Hopefully Canada and the U.S work things out, and quit all the posturing.

Your thinking is flawed, as shown by the "under Joe Biden" silly sentence you wrote. Who was President post-covid mattered not one bit. Inflation was a worldwide phenomenon and, I'm sure you're aware, not as bad "under Joe Biden" as elsewhere.

I doubt that you or certainly, Trump/MAGA realize just how interconnected our and Canada's economy really are. You wanna "buy American"? No parts, components, ingredients made/grown in Canada? Good luck with that! Wanna buy stuff definitely manufactured in a troo-bloo American factory? Try to find one that doesn't use Canadian electricity or fossil fuels (both of which are being Trumpiffed)!

If Canadians shy away from buying our stuff, that means that production will drop, because that's what happens when markets shrink. Then profits will drop, because that's what happens when sales drop but overhead remains the same. Then stock prices will drop. It could be a slow, huge downward spiral for those companies that have a significant market presence in Canada.

If Canadians stop coming to our country, the loss will be financial (moderate) and cultural (major). But the impact will be grossly uneven. There are cities and towns all along the border that thrive and even depend on border traffic, commerce, and tourism. Lose a significant portion of that, and a lot of such places will be hurt very badly. Butt Pounder Flats, Texas, yeah, maybe, not so much. But they voted 97% for Trump anyway.

Someone linked to Reddit?  Isn't that the bunghole of liberal Internet?  It's even more of a lefty circle jerk than this forum.
