Texas itself is "fecal contamination" for the rest of the country.
Republicans dont like regulations and Texas is the epitome of that manifestation.
Nevermind Houston is a living toilet bowl....it also now completely floods anytime there is a thunderstorm. They didnt want any zoning or planning restrictions when building the city so the infrastructure is a complete trainwreck.

One place you can see that in action is the insane traffic. The city is ringed by the interstate highway system, but the interface with state and local highways is horribly designed. The result is bottlenecks everywhere and traffic jams that last for hours.
In fact, speaking of Texas highways...they lack adequate shoulders, dividers, guard rails, or other safety features; the drainage is usually terrible, and on-ramps are so short as to be actively dangerous. Texas didn't want to conform to federal standards when building its highways. So driving through Texas is a good way to die. Yee-haw!
