Kevin... This whole theatrical DC presentation is essentially not about HB as priority; it's about his father. He's the main R target, whether right or wrong , or how they might rightly or wrongly label it, or the daily magnitude of barking about it. You know that, right? To date, there has been no significant evidence presented ( beyond anecdotal; there's a ton of that, too) to incriminate Joe with. We'll see what Devon Archer has to say during Monday's congressional hearing. The hearing is closed - door / non-publicized, but sure as I'm sitting here you know the R's are going to leak hearing info to the press, likely same day. Like everybody else, you're going to have to process that info and make some decisions ( assuming it has ultimate veracity/ proven in court) if you're truly honest. Are you? Or are you rather just insulating current key members from your side out of habit?
Denial of HB's laptop and the associated potential evidence from it is not honest. If there were no meat and potatos evidence in it, then why did they (DOJ and FBI, among other entities) divert attention from it for such a long period of time (since 2019)? Why was it intentionally mislabeled as "Russian disinformation" for 4+ years? Was it a cover - up the whole time in order to insulate HB and the old man? The prosecution behind HB's now defunct plea deal used some of that laptop info to argue their plea case against him. No matter how you try and disspell it's significance, it's real. If you assume you can factually disprove that significance, go for it ( I don't think you can, but please, go for it).
Well, of course it's all a crusade against Joe Biden, clumsy and theatrical because attempts to find him guilty of actual wrongdoing have failed miserably. So the master plan is to find his son guilty of despicable horribleness and then link his activities to his father in some way. It's an act of desperation and/or anger at the impeachments and prosecutions of the Orange Turd. And of course, it's political...period.
I don't expect that hearing to uncover any actual evidence of Hunter's nefarious nogoodnikness, because if such evidence existed, the RepubliQ would already be waving it from the rooftops. So what we'll get is more innuendo and suspicion--nothing of substance. So I won't have to make any decisions, as you say, but why should I in any event? Let's suppose that Hunter proves to be the greatest criminal mastermind of the 21st century. So sweet holy motherfucking what? How does that affect me? Does it fill or empty my rice bowl? And then you might say, yeah, but what about his dad? What ABOUT him? I voted for him--and not that I need to justify that decision--in no small part because the alternative was unthinkable.
Y'see, some societies shame and condemn family members of a criminal as well as the criminal himself. And what I find absolutely fucking hilarious is that those societies have been the targets of RepubliQ wrath and derision for decades. So they want to become heathen Chinee commies now?
I don't know the contents of the mystical laptop, but as with whatever will be farted out at the hearings, if there was anything truly damning or incriminating on it, there would be a prosecution based on it well under way--and because of the leakiness you mention, the RepubliQ would already be screaming it from the rooftops. But so far, nothing but vague innuendo. I don't know why it's been handled the way it has up to now, but I find it extremely implausible that it's all part of a nefarious FBI/DOJ coverup scheme, given who was President in 2019 (some random asshole; I forget his name).
So I say, let's see what's on the magical laptop, and maybe we can learn something about the space aliens from the planet Dweemo who gave it to him. If and until we get there, it's a tale full of sound and fury, told by an idiot, signifying nothing.
