An Amazing Trump Trade Deal?

China agrees to buy US Soybeans. Between 2011 and 2017, they bought 60% of US soybeans, that's been on a downward slide since 2018, bottoming out at zero so far this year. What a great deal by Trump! He destroyed the market, and now he's negotiated a promise that they will buy some now.

China also agreed to keep selling rare earth minerals, just like they always have.

Xi also "promised" to crack down on fentanyl.

He made a great deal with South Korea.     Remember that little paper crown they gave you at Burger King when you were a kid?   They gave Trump one of those - except its made out of gold.   

Thats the way you deal with Trump.   Give him flattery and gifts and he'll do whatever you want.

I have always thought that, under the Constitution, Congress must approve all binding trade deals. Does that mean all these random agreements mean nothing? It sure seems like it, but as PJ points out, Trump always seems to get a shiny new object when he travels.

There's a more fundamental reason why agreements with Trump mean nothing. He weasels out of deals, violates treaties, abrogates contracts, breaks promises, and lies through his teeth dozens of times a day. Any agreement with such a dishonest person is worthless.
