Back to what we can call Bermuda shorts.  Any ideas which won't offend Kevin and those like Kevin?

It's not very snappy, but how about Nonair shorts.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N_MoXc_99E

My favorite example  of a  phenonemom named after a geographical region is the "Southern Strategy"

Southern Strategy

Republicans like to remind liberals they are the party that freed the slaves which means claims of white supremacy embedded in the Republican party is some kind of liberal myth.

But the Republicans themselves are the ones who documented this electoral strategy in the wake of the Civil Rights Act where they effectively marketed their party to the values of Southern White shitkickers who suck at life and blame it on black people.

And the rest is history.

PJ, how about giving us a bunch of examples of a systematic racist policy within the Republican party.  Kevin and Biden believe that stopping flights from China was racist, and I'm curious were PJ stands.  How about Trumps attempt to prevent illegal immigration of all colors of people?  Is this racist?  Where does PJ stand on this?

Before the beer virus hit, blacks and Mexicans were enjoying an unprecedented financial surge in the US, which many wish to ignore.

A little off topic, but how about the NAACP?  National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Kevin, please explain how this organization's title remains official, while "China virus" is considered (by some) to be racist.

I can give numerous examples throughout history - but why not just pick three from the sitting White Naitonalist in the White House?

1) He unapologetically ran his campaign for office on the racist conspiracy theory that Obama was an illegal alien from Africa based upon the color of his skin

2) He pardoned Joe Arpaio who was sentenced to jail for arresting people based upon the color of their skin to which he as championed by the alt-right

3) He defended the violent COnfederate flag wiavers in Charlottesville after they murdered someone.    These people....

And its not my opinion - its David Duke's opinion too.

https://www.newsweek.com/kkk-leader-david-duke-tweets-thank-god-trump-thats-why-we-love-him-726023

After Trump was elected president in November, Duke said the victory was "one of the most exciting nights of my life." "Make no mistake about it, our people have played a HUGE role in electing Trump!" he wrote on Twitter.

What else can I help with today?

And beginning in the 1960s the Southern Strategy has been used by some Republicans to benefit politically from racial polarization.

Does anyone really dispute that?

All weak.  Had Obama been white and possibly Canadian, would it have been racist?  Once again, Dems will lose the election because they cry racism when there is none.  In the Liberal playbook, Conservatives are automatically racist if they criticize a black man.  Many "independents" have figured this out, and they're sick of it also.

David Duke doesn't think its weak and he's the targeted audience of the SOuthern Strategy that you live in denial of.   BTW - unlike Obamagate - the Southern Strategy isn't a conspiracy that was fabricated by the opposittion party.   It was invented by Richard Nixon and embraced by every Republican Administration since.

Its not some secret doctrine the Republican party denies exists.

DId you see Wiki-History or is that fake-news?

Candy, are you really that dense? What matters is that the label is PEJORATIVE. "China virus" is used by conservatives to mean "The filthy virus that came from those heathen Chinee." It's not referring to a place--and if it was, that would be incorrect, as the virus's origin is almost certainly Africa.

A term is racist when it involves attaching a negative label to something. When you were young, did you ever hear the term, "Indian giver?" Or maybe you've heard "Mexican deal" (a bargain that won't be upheld).

When the NAACP was formed, "colored" was generally considered descriptive and neutral, like "white." In the ugly South, something "colored" was sometimes something inferior. But generally it was innocuous.

There's nothing inherently wrong with attaching an ethnic descriptor to something---German sausage, Turkish music, etc. What IS wrong is using such a label to slur and attack an ethnic group. And "Chinese virus" is being used here and elsewhere in exactly that fashion, despite hypocritical protestations.

David Duke............so what.  By the way, I've never even heard of the "Southern Strategy", so apparantly not many others have either.
