Another story with a happy ending!

How many were saved because they had a gun to defend themselves - I look forward to your answer, Catherine.

David darling, you know damn well that's an unanswerable question: because you can't rewind the tape and find out what would have happened if a given manly man hero hadn't had a gun. If you're a gun love fetishist, you say, "Well, obviously, that must have happened a thousand times!!!"--without any proof. So demanding an answer to a question like that is disingenuous, dishonest, stupid, foolish, and wrong.

A counterargument could easily be: how many confrontations and incidents escalate to murder (or manslaughter) because one or more participants has a gun? Can we estimate how many people are killed because one or more of them has a gun? No, for the same reason: we can't replay the past and see what would or would not have happened. But we can infer it by comparing the rate of gun deaths in our gun-happy country to those in countries where gun ownership is severely restricted.

So my unanswerable question is, in your style, how many were killed because they had a gun "to defend themselves"? The trouble is, the other guy could have a gun, too! And I guarantee you that a pitched gun battle results in more deaths than an armed robbery.

I realize that thwarting the bad guy with one's manly man GUN is a standard fantasy. But I haven't seen very many instances of that actually happening. What I have seen is a lot of people getting shot--the "good guys" and the "bad guys."

One statistic we could use to see if the manly man gun fetish thing actually deters crime is to compare the prevalence of crime in our gun-loving country and those countries where guns are illegal. We're leading them in gun deaths by a factor of twelve to one--even with all those manly men packin' heat, ready to gun down any foul miscreant at the blink of an eye.

David dear, you and/or Boiler can respond to this as you so tiresomely and repetitively do, by insulting me, calling me a liar, and making some moronic remark about LIBERALS. But maybe--just maybe--just perhaps--you'll take a look at what I said above and try to tell us why if guns prevent crime, we have so many more gun deaths per capita than any almost other country.

Naah, you won't do that! You'll just scream and rant.

I was talking to Catherine - go do your fact twisting lying lawyering elsewhere - real adults are having a sane conversation here and your nonsense is unwanted and not welcome.

I don't care whether you want me to enter a discussion or not. You have no power over me, no say, and no influence over whether and how I post. You're limp, weak, helpless, and impotent. Whine away if it makes you feel better.

Yes, you've already told us that murder makes you happy.

What a sicko.

Whine away, David dear.

Drown in your own stupidity, kevin.
