Anybody Getting An ARM (M1) Mac?

I happen to be in the need of a new computer. I hope to pick one up in January. The new chip is a massive technological leap in personal computing. Their new entry-level models run on par with their high-end 5k+ intel based computers from just last month.

I've never touched Apple anything since I learned that if you upgrade your Mac, you have no choice but to throw all your peripherals---printer, screen, external drive, etc.---in the dumpster, since unlike Microsoft systems, whenever Apple brings out a new operating system, nothing in the previous "generation" is compatible.

Apple trades on the nerd fetishists who won't buy any other brand. They also do shit like, "THE NEW IPHONE 46!!!! That IPHONE 45 you paid $1,200 for last year??? THROW IT AWAY!!"

I prefer to just get cheap, generic PCs that I can cart to a landfill if they break. Saves lots of money compared to always having the latest and greatest.
