Anybody Have Any Thoughts When To Book International Airfares Given The Current Market

I will be taking a month long international trip either in the first quarter of  2023 or the 3rd quarter of 2023 depending on when my current job ends.  I'll be traveling to parts of SE Asia. Obviously, prices have gone up since the last time I looked prepandemic. I am curious if anybody has a good sense of if it would be best to book very early to lock in current pricing, assuming fares will continue to rise, or wait until 2 to 3 months out assuming fares will go down.

Specific to the market I am flying to a lot of the Airlines that serve that market are just now resuming service.

I dont know about airfares - but beware of Super Gonorreha in SE Asia

Thats some serious shit !

That is nasty. That is why I prefer to hook up with good girls as opposed to bad girls. There are lots of good girls in SE Asia looking for a relationship with a man from a western county. I put up a new profile two days ago geared towards dating in SE Asia and have had 50+ women in their 20s to 30s contact me.

The best time to book a flight is now, once you are sure you are going. While last-minute fares are usually more expensive, most of the other predictive metrics are a crock.

And if you get a fully refundable/changeable fare, there can be no disadvantage to booking now. Just keep checking prices, and then cancel and rebook when appropriate.

Agree with MP. If there's no penalty ( fully refundable fares), book and then cancel / rebook if lower fares appear. The only downside is time to make the cancellation / new booking. Once customers are happy with the fares they've obtained , then the next concerns are no delays or cancellations associated with their reservations under the current conditions.

The first consideration is whether any fare you book will be changeable and/or fully refundable without fees. I doubt you're going to get that.

So I would be inclined to wait. The current post-pandemic travel frenzy and the high cost of fuel are making air travel a perfect storm right now. I'd wait until everything cools down (and maybe the world economy goes in the tank) and you might be able to snag a really good fare this coming winter.

Kevin,  I am of the same mind as you. If you book a fully refundable it is going to cost a lot more for the ticket out of the gate. I think it is a good gamble to wait until winter/fall as I think prices will go down as travel season, the economy and fuel prices do down.

This is one of the places I want to go. It seems there are plenty of Pinays in their 20s that want to go here too.

Lemme guess...Thailand?

No that's Boracay Island in the Philippines.

Perfect. Now, all we need is a Thai food truck (Filipino cuisine is one of the few SE Asian cuisines that I don't like).

I would imagine that the Philippines is a relatively inexpensive travel destination and that due to American influence, English is widely spoken. I've read that there are some areas you definitely avoid, but it's a pretty big country and there are lots of choices.
