"Identity for U.S. Hispanics is multidimensional and multifaceted. For example, many Hispanics tie their identity to their ancestral countries of origin – Mexico, Cuba, Peru or the Dominican Republic. They may also look to their indigenous roots. Among the many ways Hispanics see their identity is their racial background.
Afro-Latinos are one of these Latino identity groups. They are characterized by their diverse views of racial identity, reflecting the complex and varied nature of race and identity among Latinos. A Pew Research Center survey of Latino adults shows that one-quarter of all U.S. Latinos self-identify as Afro-Latino, Afro-Caribbean or of African descent with roots in Latin America. This is the first time a nationally representative survey in the U.S. has asked the Latino population directly whether they considered themselves Afro-Latino."

Republicans have a much simpler and easier-to-follow metric:
White: people
Non-white: Not people
White: 'Murricans
Non-white: Furriners; terrorists; bad; rapists

This is why it is difficult to take you seriously, Kevin. You have so much to contribute, then you come up with this crap.

I base it on decades of observation.
If it isn't the case, then why did Republicans reach out to embrace Trump when pretty much from day one, his core message has been xenophobia and racism?
Here's the simple metric, Candy. If Republicans were as principled as they claim(ed) to be, then they would have considered Trump to be totally abhorrent and rejected him utterly when he made his many, many racist statements.
But they didn't; quite the opposite, in fact. They ran to the MAGA rallies and thence to the polls to support him. What are we supposed to conclude? I conclude that Trumpers have sold their souls and allowed the dark emotions buried deep in their psyches to bubble to the surface--because they think Trump has legitimized doing so.
Also, just for the record---I don't give a flying shit what any individual Trumper thinks of me. I am critical of Trump and therefore a blasphemer. No Trumper would take me seriously, because doing so would be a horrible moment of introspection for them--they don't want that.
Because you generalize as if you know beliefs of each and every human on the planet, Kevin.
Obviously, I WAS generalizing--and that means I wasn't saying that every single Republican on the planet feels that way. It's more like 99.996%. And just so you know, Candy---"all Republicans" is not the same as "every human being."
That said, I sure as hell don't see much outrage or many defections in the Republican party. Who's walked away from Trump in disgust? McCain? Romney, maybe? Who else? What Republican had stood up and refuted the many horrible racist things that Trump has said?
Since labeling and treating people as subhuman is so evil and abhorrent, I think we all--EVEN REPUBLICANS--have an obligation to speak out against racism. The silent acquiescence of Trump's enablers tells me, therefore, that they're perfectly cool with the Republican party's racist agenda and Trump's awful bigotry.
Also, if Republicans were decent people, Trump's approval rating would be 0.01%.
