Are immigration and naturalization two separate things? Is the federal government usurping a power not delegated to it by the Constitution?

I wasn't looking forward to it anyway..so we can all remain ignorant with the related bliss of his employed tenets. I'm speculating / spitballing here but, I'll bet a majority of Texas citizen voters approve of his border actions in the next gubernatorial election ( for his fourth term). The real answer to that will come next November , as there are no term limits for Texas governors. You've already written off Texas/Texans so don't concern yourself , Inspector.

Of COURSE they approve. They LUVVV Trump, so they consider the Constitution and the rule of law to be nothing but toilet paper. And God God God, do they ever hate brown people in Tay-ucks-ass. They'd nominate Abbott for sainthood if he set up grandstands on the border so people could watch as brown people trying to cross the border are gunned down. "Don't do the headshot first, boys, make 'em suffer!" Cheer cheer clap clap from the crowd, savoring the agonized screams of the FEELTHY IMMERGENTS while they chaw down on some good ol' Tay-ucks-ass barbecue. Tickets are $250, and they always sell out.

Local "joke" I've heard no less than three separate times: What are those brown spots on Texas highways? Slow Mexicans. Har har knee slap grunt snort.

Unfortunately the reality in Texas is almost as bad as Kevin's tongue in cheek analysis. Many of us who live in Texas never ceased to be amazed at the vicious hatred that our neighbors and politicians spew out against people of color, LBGTQ folks and all those who happen not to be "christians." We will try to keep fighting the good fight, though. Onward thru the fog!

I have been watching a bit of James Talarico from over there. He has really impressed me.

I have lived in Texas since I was 3 years of age - almost 75 years. Much of what black jack says is sadly true. But it is not as widespread as is being insunated here and has diminished greatly. I dare say that this type of behavior is still found not only in Texas but also throughout the United States. People are not born with this mindset - it is developed over time from those who practice this type of behavior - it is taught. I personally don't know if I will live long enough to see the end of such learnings and behavior - but I do have hopes that one day it will no longer be a part of America.

That's all pretty extreme vs some conflicting realities. According to Googleberry,  Latino ethnicities make up about 40% of the total Texas population and are the largest single  ethnic group residing there ( just outnumbering whites /  caucasians as a group). You must dislike about 55% of those 'brown people" who voted because that's the proportion of Latino voters who checked Trump's box in the last election. You've made it quite clear that you're not fond of Trump voters..even if they're brown people? That disqualifies them as a worthy group, right? Granted, it's likely  true that his support in Texas among Latinos is currently not quite that strong anymore. A year can be a long time sometimes.

Come election time everyone will see just how true your assumption really is.

Latinos Trump support in Texas seems to have waned a bit..is that right? They won't be voting for him, obviously ( he can't run). As you suggest, we'll see how they align with the right ( and/or left) candidates next go-round.

I live in Texas and what you are saying about support is not waning, if anything the support is growing. But, we will know the actual answer come election time.

Latino support for the Turd is waning because he's demonized them. He's also threatened to take away their citizenship (birthright or naturalized). He lumps those who are here legally together with the FEELTHY IMMERGENTS and honks that they should all be dragged away. It's frankly amazing that he got even 1% of the Latino vote.

But Hitler got 30% of the Jewish vote in 1933, so ..
