I am more concerned about the out of control women at the Kavanaugh hearing.
None of my conservative friends are destroying Nike apparel that they own. In fact, they encourage people to donate the apparel to charities rather than destroy it if they no longer want to possess it. Some are saying they will no longer buy Nike products. Their right and choice. I've been buying Nike Air shoes for more than 40 years. I bought a pair earlier this year to replace an 8-year-old pair that the soles were starting to separate from the shoes. I will buy Nike Air shoes again in 6-8 years, after the pair I'm wearing now start to wear out...assuming Nike is still in business then. I have a high instep, and Nike Air shoes feel good on my feet. They also last a long time. The only time I had one of their shoes wear out only a couple years after I bought them was when I was walking the strip in Las Vegas and the temperature outside was 117. The heat on the street melted the adhesive that attached the sole to the shoe.
Nike has made many smart business marketing decisions through the years. They just made a very stupid business marketing decision. There are pro athletes who actually did sacrifice everything, giving their lives in service to our country. Kaepernick is nothing more than a real life Al Bundy. He sucked at football and is now selling shoes.

I think that is the sensible thing to do when you consider the cost of Nike products, so I applaud your friends for doing the right thing.

I read something today that said Nike is happy as they already received 44 million dollars worth of free media coverage over their new campaign. Anyway, I suspect white guys over 50 that watch Fox News and listen to country music aren't their target demographic.
Stock dropped over 3% today; so the stockholders feel this was a bad move.
Anytime a company throws itself into politics they are bound to get into trouble. I suspect they've done the math and figure they have more to gain from one side than to lose fom the other. Far be it from me to second guess their research.
Personally I've never been able to wear Nike shoes - my feet are too wide. Their customers have some skinny-ass feet.
The NFL chose a side and it sure seems like they have gotten themselves into a heap of trouble that they can't get out of. They can't force the players to stand as it isn't in their contract and Trump keeps publically bashing them when the players kneel.
They lost to Kap in court last week as their own arbitrator ruled against them. Now the case is going to go to a full trial. My prediction is that the NFL will have to compensate Kap for the full value of his lost career. That is going to be one hell of a payout. The fact that the payout is going to come from Jerry Jones and his ilk's pockets makes me smile.
Nike has a contract to provide the NFL with their uniforms for the next couple of years and it is no coincidence that this new campaign launched right before the start of the season. It amazes me that ESPN and CBS sports won't run a story about players kneeling anymore or a story about Kap's court victory. It is like they just pretend the issue doesn't exist.
They did run short stories on this new controversy, but both stories had user comments turned off.
Oh, I almost forgot. Look at what happened to poor old racist Pappa John when he took a side. He was ousted from his own company that he founded. They even changed the locks on the doors to keep him out.
I'd say Nike chose the right side given how it has turned out for people that chose the other side.
Kaepernick was not released by the 49’s, he voluntarily walked away from his contract. He turned down a contract to be a broncos backup & is now making millions with this Nike deal.
Doesn’t seem harmed to me.
Universal Police Code: "To Serve and Protect"
Police accross the country are not adhering to this code when they shoot unarmed people in the back....or "stop and frisk" people based on the color of their skin....or routinely shake down minority populations disproportionately in traffic violations to build up revenue....or detain latino americans as illegal immigrants based upon the evidence of "how they look".
It is unlikely DonDiego has ever been at the receiving end of any of this abhorant abuse. For the people who have been - they are showing their country the same level of respect it has shown them. The confederate flag waivers are free to interpret it as an insult to their country and burn their shoes. Thats their right too.
