At least the EU and NATO have a crystal-clear perspective of what Putin is like (Trump only knows how his dick tastes). And if Ukraine starts to collapse, I wouldn't be surprised if they stepped in, with boots and tanks on the ground. For Poland and the Baltic states, that wouldn't be altruism; it would be survival.
