Bad News For Conservatives Rooting For The Failure Of The American Auto Industry

The conservative cheerleading for the failure of the Automotive industry was premature as is everything conservatives do.  At least that is what their wives and girlfriends tell me. 

Fiat Chrysler, riding a wave of strong truck and SUV sales, is planning to build a new final assembly plant in Detroit even as other American automakers scale back operations in the U.S., according to people familiar with the plan.

The assembly plant, an old Mack II Engine Plant that closed in 2012, will build a new three-row, Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV starting in 2020 as the automaker moves to keep up with strong demand for utility vehicles, the people said. A spokesperson for Fiat Chrysler would not comment on the report, nor confirm the automaker's plans.

DonDiego is not familiar with anyone who is/was cheering for the failure of the automotive industry. 

And he joins Mark in congratulating Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, with main headquarters in the Netherlands and financial headquarters in London, for choosing to build the new Jeep Grand Cherokee in Detroit.

Unfortunately, the link which Mark provided reports that General Motors is idling 5 plants, two of them in Detroit.  And Ford is cutting shifts at plants in Kentucy and Michigan. 

Fiat Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford, . . . and all the other car-makers, . . . examples of free-market competition at work.

Great news.I was born in Detroit so this is wonderful news for the old home town.

What Conservatives are cheering for our American auto industry to fail?  I hope that these companies produce a product of great value, and that they succeed famously, without support from government.
