BALANCE

"One man is dead and 17 people were injured within three hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning during separate shootings.

The number of shooting victims overwhelmed Mount Sinai Hospital. They were so busy that they had to shut down the ER to treat people and had to turn other people away."

From WGN-Chicago:  17 People Shot in Separate Chicago Shootings

This sorta thing is a normal weekend in Chicago, . . . it's not enough to make the national news.

Imagine a country that doesn't have easy access to weapons. If you want real results look at what they did in Australia. They had a similar gun culture and they were able to implement real changes and got real results.

Republicans want to blame video games, a lack of prayer and mental health.  As I said above, Patrick Crusius wasn't insane neither was the Pittsburgh Synagogue shooter nor the guy that shot up the Mosque in California or the MAGA bomber that got 20 years today. The common thread is that all of these guys were conservatives that were radicalized by President Trump, Fox News and the rest of the Conservative media. No amount of mental health care is going to cure a political terrorist or even a voracious nonviolent consumer of this type of propaganda. If someone like Doc hears from Trump the Mexicans are invading and infesting America, he literally believes it is true. If anyone tries to point out the fallacy in his thinking, he screams liberal liar, fake news and you hate Trump. If someone like Patrick Crusius hears from Trump that Mexicans are invading and infesting America, he buys an assault rifle to "send them back".

The other thing is Republicans always talk about mental healthcare after these things but never follow through when they find out how much adequate mental healthcare costs. It might mean they would have to tax the rich or corporations to pay for it. So, yeah, gun violence in Chicago isn't going to make the news as long as we have easy access to guns. Gun violence in big cities has been accepted as normal. I suspect mass shootings will soon be accepted as the new normal.

With their tough gun laws, How does mark explain the 59 shootings this past weekend in Chicago?

They drive a few miles to my state that is ran by ammosexuals and buy them there.

Who is this "Doc" person ?

Mark supplies the answer to why gun control doesn’t work. Bad guys don’t follow the law, while good people lose out.

David Miller = Doc. It is the short version of his old LVA user name.

Tom where were all the good guys with guns in El Paso with their very liberal gun laws? For years conservatives have said the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun was a good guy with a gun. What happened Tom?

If you cant legally buy an AK-47 it is unlikely that the bad guy could get one. In other words Tom, you take care of it at the point of sale.

Mark, the Walmart in El Paso was a "gun-free zone".  Had it not been, the outcome would have been different.  Liberals even have their liberal thoughts infiltrating Texas.

The Dayton shooter was dressed in body armor.   In other words, he was fully expecting there to be "good guys with guns" at the scene.     Huge determent, huh?

I'm largely done arguing the ridiculous NRA talking points about arming teachers, students, clerks, and .....everyone.    And so is the majority of the country.

The NRA is collapsing amidst scandal, finance violations ....but  mostly just an abandonment of membership.    One less scumbag lobbiest group influencing policy should help push the pendulum in the right direction.
