Bed Bath & Beyond Leaving California

May be an image of textThey have had enough of DemocRAT policies.

BB&B closed some time ago, like in 2023 at least in my city (Not CA).  I thought they closed everywhere. They supposedly were to open under another brand name.  I don't know more than that.

In 2023, the original Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and shuttered all physical stores after contending with issues such as "poor inventory management, slow adoption of online shopping trends and overreliance on coupon shopping," according to Reuters. Overstock.com purchased its brand name, domain and other intellectual property for $21.5 million in June 2023 and subsequently relaunched its website under the Bed Bath & Beyond banner by August. In November 2023, Overstock rebranded its corporate identity as Beyond, Inc. But Kirkland’s Inc. finalized a $25 million investment deal with Beyond, which is also the parent company of Overstock, Zulily and BuyBuy Baby, in February, enabling Kirkland's to become the exclusive brick-and-mortar operator and licensee for new, smaller-format "neighborhood" Bed Bath & Beyond locations nationwide. --This comes as the ailing company fights its way back to relevance after it collapsed in 2023 from mounting debt and several failed turnaround strategies. Under its parent company, renamed from Beyond Inc. to Bed Bath & Beyond this week, the retailer is returning to brick-and-mortar shops with the first Bed Bath & Beyond Home store opening in Nashville earlier this month. The company is planning to open 300 shops nationwide over the next two years.

David is trying to tell us that they closed because not enough of their customers voted for Trump.

No sane business makes critical decisions based on politics. David's stupid lie is beyond ridiculous.

Thanks for that info, David.  One of my friends did say they 'thought' BB&B had reopened here, but I haven't confirmed that.

 You are welcome.

Wow what a loss an online store

front for Overstock.com that has no physical stores.

The key fact David omitted in his overview is who is the largest shareholder and founder of Overstock?

Patrick Byrne

Now get this. Byrne is an election denier and was pals with the my Pillow guy. He attended the planning sessions in the White House to overturn the 2020 election.

It doesn't surprise me one bit that he makes a showy political statement in an attempt to make Newsom look bad. After all, he is a Trump minion and Newsom has been kicking Trump's ass nonstop on social media.

But you don't have to take my word for it.

I omitted nothing - I posted the letter in it's entirety. You can attempt to cloud this topic with your rhetoric - it does not change the fact that they are moving out of California for the stated reasons.

It doesn't cloud the topic.  What exactly is Overstock pulling out of California? They had no presence there, and they have no plans to open stores anywhere in the country. The clouding was using the BBB name when it was Overstock.com that put out the letter. This was done to obscure the connection to Byrne.  This is nothing more than a political stunt by a political toady. That is why it was all over conservative media today.  They desperately needed to distract from the news of all of Trump's recent failures and declining health. Mr. Byrne was happy to help them manufacture a story.

As an aside, I used to do business with Mr. Byrne and Overstock back in the early days of the Internet. I had another good friend in the business who used to talk to Mr. Byrne regularly. That is how I ended up doing marketing work for them.

Maybe someday I will spill the dirt on the founder of Wikipedia.

Bottom line, your post title was a lie. They can't leave California because they weren't there to begin with.

"and they have no plans to open stores anywhere in the country.' Really??? -- This comes as the ailing company fights its way back to relevance after it collapsed in 2023 from mounting debt and several failed turnaround strategies.
