Belated Laughlin trip report

I had not until today.  Thanks for the idea, but the smallest suite that would work for us is $17,000 for 3 nights.  The really big ones, which we don't need, are $70,000.

Ouch!  That's pretty spendy even for Elvis!

I will throw something else out there. Have you ever looked at the Hilton condo/time share properties in Vegas they have rooms with multiple bedrooms. The one that is attached to the miracle mile shops looks really nice.

Every price I've seen here so far, including at the Laughlin GN, has been absolutely outlandish...to rent an apartment for three days. Even the cheapest have been the equivalent of over a million bucks a year.

Obviously, they're primarily catering to people who don't care about money, but it's still ridiculous.

The Laughlin Big Room at 2900 sq ft is 10 times the size of your typical hotel room and three times the size of a typical apartment.  $500 (including tax and fees) for a 3 night hotel stay in the US is pretty common, and if you multiply that by 10...well the math is quite easy.  Also, most hotel rooms don't come with a fire pit, a large grill, a full kitchen, industrial size refrigerator/freezer, outdoor hot tub, plus another outdoor sitting area.  It has ceiling to floor views of the Colorado river in much of the place, which sits 40 feet away, plus a detached 2 car garage which is very handy for hauling in food and booze for 15 guys.  One more carrot that the Golden Nugget Laughlin offers, and no other hotel in Vegas will do, is to give all in our group a key card for the Big Room.  Remember, only 4 of us stay in the Big Room.  All the big Vegas suites require a key card to get on the elevator and they will only give us 4 cards.  The deal in Laughlin is good and very workable.  If I could get such a deal at any of the other suggested towns, I'd be all over it.  That being said, I haven't given up on other viable options.

Reseaching such rooms is very difficult as most of the big casino suites are not listed on the websites.  A call is required, and even then, getting information can be a challenge.

Here's a youtube of our place in Laughlin.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfIbnq4_0D0&t=25s

The Elara.....one of the rooms has a glass floor in the living room.  Trippy as hell.

Just for fun I went on airbnb, you can get the entire 59th floor at the Palms with 4 bedrooms and 8 beds for $4k a night.

Sounds like it wouldn't work for Boiler, though, unless a lot of his friends really like each other.

I get their motivation, we've done this for decades so we have to keep doing it blah blah, but for money in the several thousand a night range, the rooms should come with hookers. At least. It seems like they're stuck with either staying in sleepy Laughlin or fading an unusual element of The Gouge.

My initial thought was, does their get together even have to be at a casino? NEAR a casino? It seems like the stuff they do doesn't involve gambling. I would look into renting a big ol' house in the mountains or at the beach.

I didn't think it was a good one for him either, but a penthouse could be a lot of fun.  I'm not sure many people would want the house hookers included, but things might be different on the west coast!

We had a great time renting a house in San Diego for a few couples one year, it was quite a good trip, though I'm no longer a fan of Airbnb with all the extra add ons and cleaning fees.

We averaged about 15 hours of black jack per guy over our three nights in November.

I'm kind of surprised that our spending slightly less than $500 per guy for 3 nights rooms costs seems spectacularly high.  Hell, the villa saves me $500 in food and beverages expenses.
