Government agencies--both state and federal--clamp down HARD on businesses that pay workers in cash and don't collect or remit any taxes
Actually they don't. Many businesses particularly restaurants that deal in a lot of cash pay much of their staff in cash. Landscapers & small contractors also take advantage.
Will they ever collect social security? Unlikely. They pay Medicare taxes. Will they ever collect Medicare benefits?
Why wouldn't they collect?
They pay unemployment insurance. How many will actually file for unemployment, even if eligible? Very few. They have state and federal taxes withheld. How many will file state or federal returns to get refunds? Very, very few.
Again - why wouldn't they collect if they are eligible?
The question is whether immigration benefits or hurts this country.
