It's a delicate issue. On the one hand, relieving student loan burdens can save people from financial ruin and help stimulate our economy, but it raises valid concerns about fairness to those who struggled to pay off their loans or never took them. Taxpayer concerns are valid, shaping a balanced state budget is an ongoing battle. We can't overlook, though, the potential long-term economic benefits of a more financially stable and educated populace. In managing debt, I've also found that exploring all available resources is crucial. For instance, I count on my San Diego bankruptcy lawyer to help navigate the legal landscape, ensuring I don't spiral into unmanageable debt. His insights have been invaluable in helping me stay financially stable, and I guess that's what those who have debts should do.
Millerscum ignored the reality, as so many conservitards have. Debt forgiveness under certain conditions was part of the contracts the student borrowers signed, Thousands of borrowers met those conditions and applied for forgiveness, but their applications weren't processed during the Trump administration, apparently due more to carelessness than active malice.
There's nothing political about it, especially since many of those loans were taken out during the Dubya administration. Biden is simply making the government honor its contracts. That isn't "liberal"--it's honest. (Though come to think of it, dishoinesty is indeed conservative.)
Those who have been repaying their loans shouldn't be angry. The conditions for forgiveness are not making enough money to pay them off OR working in a designated profession, such as teaching (in certain areas). So if they chose some other profession, or if they were successful in that chosen profession---no forgiveness eligibility. That was in the contracts they signed. End of story.
I'm sure Millerscum will call me a liar, bleat about "liberal bullshit," etc. etc. etc., but the reality is that this is simply living up to the terms of a contract. Honesty and integrity are necessary for any government to function, but those qualities were thrown in the crapper when the Trump administration welshed on those contracts. But then, not honoring contracts has been a signature feature of the Orange Turd for his entire life.
