It has everything to do with us. We have an evil fascist coming to power whose appeal to the masses is his race hatred. He talks about rounding up and deporting 11 million human beings with NO regard for the misery, disruption, and expense that would cause. I'll repeat my earlier argument on this. One cannot equate the comparative governmental structures, conditions, and systems between Hitler's Russia and the US at any time in history. I know why the Dems lost. First and foremost, they nominated a WOOMUN. That alone would have screwed the pooch. But there's an even wider ideological divide here. The Dems want to appeal to the college professors and opera attendees. The Repubs want to appeal to the people who graduated from high school with a C-minus average and attend monster truck rallies. Turns out that the latter outnumber the former.
You say you're not naive about the supposedly invulnerability of our shining hill institutions, but I've never heard a naive person admit that they were naive. Your faith is touching. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.
