We've known for over a year he'll step down to be replaced by someone like Michelle Obama or Gavin Newsom. There is a very low percentage chance he'll be at the Democratic Convention as the nominee. He'll step down for family or health reasons.
It'll actually be an invigorating move for the Democrats, they'll fire up their base far more than having a senile old man in a puppet position as he is now. Expect the replacement soon.
It is possible but not likely in my opinion. Why just not go with someone new right out of the gate rather than replacing him at the last minute?
I think it is more likely Trump will be replaced at the convention. He might even be in prison during the Republican convention as he gets sentenced on the 11th.
In any event the only reason Trump ran this time was so he could continue to fleece the sheep, like Mr. Miller, as he needs the cash to prop up his businesses.

Nobody "knows" the future. Anybody can pull a prediction out of their ass and call it certainty.
As far as replacements go, Michelle Obama has repeatedly said that she has no interest in running for President or other political office, and Newsom has too much baggage. Far more likely candidates would be those who competed with Biden for the 2020 nomination.
And the most likely way for this transition to happen would be for Biden to wait until the convention and then pledge his delegates to his chosen replacement. That would eliminate the need for additional primaries and keep the selection under his control. Of course, there are a million ways that could go to hell.
I agree that however it's done, replacing Biden as the candidate would be a good move. I think that Democratic strategists as well as Biden are waiting to see if Trump is even a viable candidate (courts, felonies, prison, mental health problems) before committing. There's not much time left, of course.

Trump will do (and already has done) everything he can to make his sentence as stiff as possible (what a fucking idiot!). However, he has a loooooong winning streak of dodging the consequences of his actions, recent court cases notwithstanding, and he IS a first-time offender, so...if he manages to avoid spitting on the guy doing his sentence recommendation and manages to keep his big mouth shut about the judgem he'll get a fine and probation (which seems unbelievable for 34 felonies but like I said, it's Trump).

No. It's characteristic. On the Dem side, the party has always gone with proven leaders, even well past their sell-by date, as it were, and resisted introducing young rising stars. Putting Trump in jail would hand the election to the Republicans is an obvious case of election interference by jailing the favorite in an election.
It would be immediately overruled by the SC, possibly 9-0. You can't put your opponent in jail.
