Oh, and speaking of "energy independence"--let's clear up what that cherished conservitard shibboloeth actually means. It refers to being able to meet our DOMESTIC energy needs with DOMESTIC production alone. And guess what, boys and girls...we've been energy independent for the entirety of our country's existence, including when the oil companies have had us all by the balls. We are and always have been one of the world's major exporters of energy. Our domestic production capacity far exceeds our consumption. The fact that the fossil fuel companies choose to buy energy rather than produce it doesn't alter that fact.
So if them heathen Chinee or Bad Vlad started a war, we could just stop exporting energy as long as we needed to. We're already energy independent.

12 of the last 16 years the WHite House has been owned by Democrats. And throughout that entire period the narrative from the right is Democrats are putting their boot on the neck of oil production in this country,
They dont appear to be doing a very good job of that. Or maybe the media network recently sued for lying about election machines lied about this story too.

The truly baffling part is that a substantial portion of the electorate thinks that we can fix all that simply by stuffing Republicans into every elected office. Becuase, y'know, they play fair.
