Bill Maher's take on the California fires

This is older news yet still current because of the aftermath / tragedy. Bill Maher is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal ( he calls himself a Libertarian,btw)..there's very little policy -wise I personally would ever agree with him on. Yet, he's refreshingly funny because he's retained  common sense and is hilarious when pointing out acts of stupidity that have nothing to do with political persuasions or everyday decision making. Take a look..pretty good take, imo.

I watch his show weekly on HBO...and I've seen him live twice.   He really isnt liberl and frequently bumps heads with the modern Democratic party.   His closest match in the Senate would probably be John Fetterman.

He has plenty to say about the red tape bureacracy that comprises California's government.     And he has plenty to say about the current wanna be dictator in the White House.    Last night he tore down Trump's comments about the fire and conditions of Trump's support.     At the end of his comments he looked into the camera and said directly to Trump, "Fuck you."

Oh, yeah..he digs any of the politicians if he disagrees. His takes are refreshing, imo..overall. And ultimately..funny as hell.

Its good to have people criticize their own team.   It helps flush out the crazies.    People like me appreciatte that about him on the left....people like AOC dont.        Unfortunately people on the right who do that end up being outcast like Liz Cheney.

Well, criticizing one's own team is just sane; whom's right every single solitary time on all issues / problems regardless of party?. Common sense overrides all that bullshit, imo. He displays that well, even though I disagree with his stances on most policies / issues.

Many of your comments suggest that you are a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, which, funnily enough, makes you blind to the political leanings of anyone who doesn't lock-step agree with you. Your calling Bill Maher a dyed-in-the-wool liberal is absolutely fucking hilarious. He's anything but. He spends AT LEAST as much time bashing liberals as he does conservatives.

I just want to ask one question: liberals tolerate him, because he's frequently (though far from always) on-point and usually funny. Let's imagine a counterpart of his, a comedian who is ostensibly grounded on the conservative side but frequently pitches savage criticism at them. Would he have an audience? Would he even be allowed to exist? I think not.

That's the difference between the right and the left. Someone like Bill Maher is very popular. If such a person existed on the other side of the entertainment/political spectrum, he/she would be considered an apostate and roasted alive by the right.

None of Trump's appointees are allowed to say that Joe Biden legitimately won the election in 2020.   Did you watch Pam Bondi in the confirmation hearings fumble all over herself when asked that question?

Trump's GOP doesnt tolerate criticism from within the ranks.

@ Kevin..

Adam Corolla, Tim Allen, nor Jim Bruer haven't been lynched by my right-side friends as yet.  They all grind on conservatives occasionally. Once again, your blanket judgementalism raises it's head and ends up being wrong. You're absolutely NOTHING like  Maher..because you can't see through and can't let go of your bias. He has enough common sense to see some things..while you seldom do when it conflicts with your world view/s.  And I am conservative, don't apologize for it..particularly to you; yet, I let opponents express and exercise their alternate opinions without insulting their very being. I'll stop just short of telling you to kiss my ass with your microcosmic bias. And Maher harbors many liberal policy stances, though he calls himself a Libertarian, all of which is verifiable. So, go bark up somebody else's tree.

Sometimes that's right..that's the MO. And it's all political ; hence none of these people are ALWAYS right. I saw Bondi waver, yeah.

You actually apologize for it all the time--to yourself, and to anyone who observes the rank hypocrisy, evil, and anti-democratic goals of MAGA.

It's called cognitive dissonance, and it's an absolutely necessary coping mechanism for those who still have some kind of moral compass despite having sold their souls to MAGA. The leader I adore is a multiple felon? It was all a political witch hunt. The Jan 6 insurrection? Assuage your guilt by, like stupid Tom, saying that all the rioters were guilty of nothing more than... trespassing.

Keep in mind that I'm actually giving you credit here. You're neither completely evil nor thoroughly stupid, so the MAGA mouthfuls make you choke when you swallow them. Then you switch on the cognitive dissonance. The economy won't be hurt by Trump's actions. All brown people are illegals anyway. Every war in the world can be instantly ended by Trump standing up and shaking his fist.

You're bullshitting yourself, as most MAGAs must. I don't blame you. Being a MAGA is pretty bad for your self-esteem.

It's all a witch hunt. Repeat until numb.
