I do in fact on occasion post during breaks between classes. I don't even ask stupid motherfucking Tom's permission first! One of the reasons subbing is sweet is that I do get two fifteen-minute breaks a day; and a half-hour (often longer) lunch break; and a 45-minute "prep period" that is set aside for teachers to prepare lesson plans---but nine times out of ten, I arrive to find those lesson plans already printed out and stacked on my desk. 

 

Now, stupid uneducated fucks like Tom think that teaching is easy. It's not--but he only sees the time the teacher spends in the classroom. Most teachers spend at least 15 UNPAID hours a week at home, preparing and grading homework and tests. Stupid fucks like Tom don't see that.

 

In reality, my job is far easier than that of a regular teacher. And when I leave at 3 in the afternoon, I'm done for the day. I make 85% of what a regular teacher makes, with none of the hassles. And I'm free to post on LVA as much as I want! Pretty sweet deal, huh?

 

My guess is that stupid Tom is jealous. He never gets a break from driving that truck around and picking up trash barrels.

I check LVA before school, when I eat breakfast, like right now, at lunch and after school.  Otherwise, I'm pretty busy with my day, between prepping for the day, grading assignments or assessments, organizing for upcoming units and collaborating with colleagues.  As Kevin said, we teachers spend a good amount of time after school working at home on things we couldn't get done at school.
