Boiler's policies on purchase prices: Pay whatever they ask! La de da!

I just want to add to the "discussion" (ha!): You, Boiler, and I are entitled to pay whatever we are comfortable with paying. Feeling that something is too expensive and not buying it isn't being "cheap." That's a childish insult used by those who DO pay for those things but have that nagging feeling in the back of their minds that they're pissing away money.

Likewise, those who are willing to pay whatever is being asked, no matter how outrageous...well, there isn't a corresponding insult for them ("expensive"?), but I wouldn't use it anyway. I think, though, that the willingness of too many people to cough up whatever the gougemasters ask just to partaaaaay in Vegas encourages them and makes them think that their price policies are wise and profitable (they are now, but won't be in the very near future).

Collectively, we should all vacation/gamble somewhere else until prices are once again reasonable. And yes, going there anyway and paying the freight will inhibit that from happening.

In fall fairness, I don't pay crazy prices either and all of us are cut from the same cloth when it comes to being APs or trying to play the comp game to its extent in Vegas.  The declining comp game.......

But I don't see Vegas every going back.  Not even close.  The younger generations don't understand how to be frugal or much of anything really for that matter.  The stuff that bugs Kevin is just not going to stop.  I don't like it either.  Vegas simply doesn't need guys like us anymore.

And the only reason I go after Kevin so much, is because he is a big bully too much on this forum going after nearly everybody so I give him a bit of his own medicine.  I probably take it too far some time I admit.

Biden is awful.  Trump is awful.  For many, many different reasons.  I just wish more people could admit that.  Not defend one or the other because of the political party you back.  Just use some common sense or street smarts and look at both of these buffoons.

Kevin, you have to understand most conservatives including the ones here are hedonists. They bitch and moan about inflation but refuse to adjust their personal habits to help tamp down inflation if it interferes with their pursuit of pleasure.

I watch what I spend, and I don't worry about what others do with their money as it's none of my business.

Ah, but if we are in inflationary times, their spending does impact you as it contributes to you paying more for goods and services.  You also pay higher interest rates when you borrow money for major purchases.

What others do with their money is their business.  It should not concern them in any way beyond how how it effects their personal finances.  My rich friend budgeted $10,000 for our recent trip while I budgeted $2000.  Neither of us spent nearly that much as we both won a little money.  He will die someday with tens of millions of dollars, so why should he count pennies?

If we have to compete with your friend and his ilk for rooms, food, gambling, etc., eventually, he will be able to afford it but we won't. That's already happening

Define reasonable

You dont need any kind of mandate to curtail Vegas vacationing.   Its already beginning to happen.   They still have the F1 race and Superbowl which are huge...but domestic travel is begining to wan.  The pent up demand from COVID is finaly starting to run its course.    I suspect next year will not have as good attendance in SIn City.

The airlines are reporting slight decreases in domestic travel...and anecdotaly I see it on the planes.   On my last two flights I  actually had a whole row of seats to myself for the first time since before COVID.   My company also has good insight into vacation rentals which are starting to finally slow down.

Add to this the fact the Las Vegas makes the same mistake it always does during prosperous times -   They overbuild..    Resorts World is already sending me mailers for half-off room rates...just think how tough their vacancy rate will be when Fountain Bleau  opens up.   It might be hard to see it right now - but the cycle will run its course.  Very soon there is going to be alot more rooms in town than visitors to fill them.   Thats when you'll see the parking fees, shitty comps, reduced menus, overpriced everything start to go back in favor of the visitors.

In the meantime - Reno, here I come.
