Booked this suite for party central in Vegas next October

As some on the site know, I've organized an annual college buddies trip for 40 years.  39 of the 40 trips have happened in Vegas, while one took place many years ago in Reno.  This year, we have this "Big Room", plys 5 standard rooms booked at Golden Nugget, Laughlin.  This is the Gold Rush Villa at the Golden Nugget.

Since we split all rooms costs between the 16 of us, room costs are a whopping $321 per person for there nights.  We'll bring our own beer, booze, Italian sausages, brats, dogs, and loads of muchies to make the Villa party central.  Lots of football watching and partying.

Sounds like a good plan, and much cheaper than the same weekend would have been in Vegas. And I believe the Nugget has a sports book if you want to bet.

Your best bet for munchies that you're unable to bring is Claim Jumper--they have a lot of "bar food" and burgers and such. I remember that their nachos were really good.

This trip, rooms costs will be about $160 cheaper than last year at Golden Gate, but the suite is larger and nicer.  Also, the standard rooms, while dated at Laughlin Golden Nugget from what I hear, are much larger.  We'll likely lose much of these savings in transportation to Laughlin, however.  With 14 some odd guys flying in from 9 states (plus two driving from Phoenix and LA) at different times, it'll make getting everyone there interesting.  We'll figure it out.

This year, we had guys arriving over two days on 14 different flights and departing over two days on 14 different flights.

It might be too late to change anything, but the time to drive to Laughlin from Phoenix is only about an hour more than to drive from Vegas to Laughlin. There might be much better flight and rental car options for many of your friends in Phoenix. Especially considering how everything gets jacked up in Vegas for a holiday weekend.

Thanks.

The drive from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix to Laughlin is 3.5+ hours and the stretch on highway 93 from Wickenburg to Kingman is 129 miles along one of the lonliest & boring drives in the west with little cell or internet service.

The drive from the airport in Vegas to laughlin is about 90 minutes.

And while service to Phoenix is pretty good; it is not as good as Vegas.

As usual kevin doesn't know what he is talking about.

Tom has an odd obsession. And I'm certain he's never made either drive--I have made both dozens of times. And it MAY be possible to get from Vegas to Laughlin in 90 minutes. In the Batmobile. Through a small town (speed limit 20) and over a couple of 4,000-foot mountain passes.

Hwy 93 from Phoenix to Kingman is about 150 miles. It's about half an hour to Laughlin from Kingman. The real travel times are two hours from Vegas to Laughlin and three hours from Phoenix to Laughlin.

Far more flights go to and from Phoenix than Vegas.

Tom...well, Tom pretends to be an authority on a lot of things.

Before ever booking this villa, I checked to see how a change in our hotel location would change my Surprise, Arizona friend's drive.....Vegas vs Laughlin.  Google maps shows the shortest and fastest route from Sky Harbor airport to the Golden Nugget Laughlin at 231 miles and 3 hours and 42 minutes.  I did the same check on our trip from Harry Reid airport to Golden Nugget, Laughlin.  That drive is 92 miles and 1 hour and 31 minutes.

I knew this before Kevin's suggestion, and I still appreciate his thought and suggestion.

It looks really nice 👍 The hookers will appreciate the bidet. 😂

As I said, getting there from Vegas has never taken me less than two hours, and from Phoenix, never more than three...but Google hath spoken :) There is one factor that Google may not take into account...I drive fast. You can do that on 93 from Phoenix, but not the highway to Laughlin--truck traffic on 95 and highway patrol on 163.

In any case...just a suggestion.
