Bought My First Hybrid

I looked up what it would cost to outfit/retrofit one of those Chinese EVs to US safety and environmental standards.

$600.

So we could get a new, functional EV for $2100+Turdiffs. Even if that was 100%, it would still be only $4200.

The big car companies in AMURRICA, Japan, and Korea must be shitting themselves at the thought.

You can find dozens of websites from European and Australian retailers of those EVs, as well as the manufacturers and the Chinese government. It took me about three seconds on Google.

China is in the process of kicking our ass in so many different ways. Trump has been mad at China for decades, ever since they wouldn't cede land to him so he could build a casino and resort there. So we suffer for it.

We've been in the process for decades of "protecting" our inefficient and obsolete manufacturing industries. If we can buy functional cars for one-fifth of what Detroit wants to charge us, why shouldn't we be allowed to???

I picked my car up on Saturday. I bought it a few days before as it was being unloaded off the truck. I wanted the Pearl Blue Lagoon color.  After spending some time driving it around it hits 53 MPG on rural highways and then 48 with interstate driving.

I like blasting down the ramps too much as that is where you can really feel the power kick in.  I looked it up, it hits 0-60 in 6.4 seconds.  There are tons of safety features, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control,  blind spot monitoring, brake hold and so on.  I am really glad I went with this over the Prius.

Highly recommended and a great car now that gas prices look like they are going to be high and stay that way.  I was going to keep running my truck through the summer but I recalled the last time gas was up, people dumped their SUVs and full-size trucks for something economical. I was afraid If I waited, there weren't going to be any good incentives.

Oh, if you are looking for information or want to see some of the Chinese hybrids or all electrics, go to YouTube and do a search for BYD.

Awesome, sounds like a great car with some really nice MPG.

You drive an electric car, folks like our Tommy think you're a commie.

I think it's absolutely hilarious that the Republican party, servants of the fossil fuel industry for decades, put somebody in power who is doing more to drive people away from gasoline and toward electricity than anyone could have anticipated.

Congrats to you. You won't have to cringe every time Trump, Vance, etc. start a war and the price of gas shoots skyward.
