We know why Trump picked Cavanaugh. It has nothing to do with abortion. Cavanaugh has well documented legal opinions stating the president is above the law and can not be charged with a crime. Trump is trying to stack the deck for his own personal benefit.
Roe v wade is already effectively overturned. Red states have found ways to use zoning laws and other ridiculous means to shut down abortion clinics. San Diego has more abortion clinics than the entire state of Texas.
If they actually manage to repeal roe v wade it will kill republicans in future elections. 75% of the population agree with that decision. Republicans should be careful what they wish for. I suspect even the conservative judges will uphold it. But that doesn’t mean republicans can’t pass further ridiculous restrictions. That will be the more likely route.

[For the record, DonDiego has no sufficiently strong opinion about abortion which would influence for whom he would vote. The Founding Fathers didn't mention abortion in the Constitution, . . . prob'ly because they were dealing with more important issues of governance.]
It also means more food stamps and medicaid dollars per Capita in Texas. People who support unwanted pregnancies generally are the same people who complain about nanny state welfare programs. Truly ironic how those things bump into each other, isn't it?
But I agree with DOn DIego's stance on abortion. I'm not a woman. I dont have a daughter. So I largely dont base my vote on abortion. Seems like thats an issue women should be able to rule on.

I prefer science determine policy instead of David Miller's hypocritcal religous cult. People with severe birth defects like David MIller are typically the ones mothers target for abortion. He must have been born in Texas.
