Bruce Springsteen releases a song about Minneapolis

The myth of THAR AWL RAPISTS AND MURDERERERS is surprisingly persistent among MAGAs, even though the FBI has consistently reported that immigrants, legal OR illegal, commit far fewer crimes than troo-bloo AMURRICANS.

I can only surmise that since this Trump lie is kind of iconic, being one of the very first things he barfed out on the campaign trail, MAGA views it as his Gettysburg Address, or something. As with everything he tells them, the truth of it doesn't matter, only how it makes them feel.

I have a colleague who did a lot of neighborhood canvasing before the 2024 election, mostly in poor parts of Tampa (mixed ethnicity area).  When she asked people what they thought was the most important issue for the election, the most common answer was "rapists entering the country illegally."  Repeat a lie often enough, and people (especially poorly educated people; education teaches you things, but more importantly, it teaches you how to think critically) ultimately embrace it.

"The truth of it doesn't matter, only how it makes them feel."  That's a classic, a lot of sociologists talk about what happened in Germany in the 1930s, a major dynamic is just this, society came to value feelings more than truth.  Hate is a powerful, tempting feeling, especially in the context of the anonymity of the mob.

Here's a song for Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

"Not One More" by The Midnight Republic? (can't make the link work)

This point in our history is eerily reminiscent of Kent State. That tragedy ultimately ended the Vietnam War. And these shootings will ultimately end Trump.

If only he could be tried, convicted, and hanged for all the murders he's committed. Oh, wait, the rope would break. Guillotine, then.

To the tune of "Black and Tans"!

That's awesome. It's an old Irish rebel song.

I had been thinking about that song in relation to ice for a while awesome someone put words to it.

Were you asking if "Not One More"  was the song Edso posted or were you sharing a different song?

The song Edso posted is "Come Out Ye Cowards Ice" the chanel name was @Ben Grosscup.

I listened to "Not One More".  I like the song. The video was good too. It had a bunch of AI slop but it wasn't too bad.

My phone doesn't let me copy links, so I did a Google search and I thought that was the song Edso was referring to, since that YouTube video that I found had been created on Jan 29.

I liked Edso's song as well. Thanks for pointing me towards it.

I'm heartened by what's looking like a groundswell of protest articulated in one of the most effective ways: folksongs.

Unfortunately, I have this Godawful horrible lousy dysfunctional disgusting shitstain of a Motorola phone. It supposedly uses the Android operating system, but there's a LOT of things that Androids are supposed to do that it just won't, like archiving message threads (they just disappear), changing sound and notification settings (half of them are grayed out), etc. etc. It's like driving a car that somebody vandalized by pulling off all the knobs and switches.

I got this Moto phone for free and I paid way too much for it. Don't let your friends get one. Give one to your enemies for free. FUCK THIS $##-#& PHONE.

And yes, Moto, I know you're reading this. I plan to throw you into a river very soon. Tremble in fear!

Some of the Moto phones are good and offer good value with flagship like specs for hundreds less. Their lower end phones typically have slow CPUs and not a lot of ram but they typically sell for less than $200.

The Google Pixel series is a good alternative if you don't want to pay Apple or Samsung prices.
