Yeah, I live in a part of the country that makes terrific beer, and I can't imagine how that shit sells. It's not even a matter of it being cheap--most cheap beers taste far better than Bud/Bud Light does (Miller being an exception to that; it tastes even worse).
I think you're right, this latest stupidity indicates that people choose what beer to drink based on factors other than how the stuff tastes!
And BTW, I don't believe this nonsense about a sales slump. Bud's LGBTQ+ support campaign was too recent to have affected sales as reported--there's always a several months' time lag before such data is collated. But it makes for a good story to gin up the MAGA bigot goober crowd.
