California city attorney threatened to fine Target for reporting retail thefts: report

How absurd is this? -The Sacramento City Attorney reportedly pressured Target to stop reporting retail thefts. Threats of fines were issued if Target continued to call the police over theft incidents. The report raises concerns about the impact on local businesses and crime rates. - According to the New York Post, the City Attorney's office pressured the retail giant to stop calling law enforcement over theft incidents. The threats of fines were issued as a deterrent, aiming to reduce police calls related to retail thefts. This approach is seen by many as a controversial measure that could affect the crime reporting landscape and the safety of retail operations in Sacramento. -- https://mxmnews.com/article/01d354fa-1302-43ca-b9b2-98e1269c34f7?california-city-attorney-threatened-to-fine-target-for-reporting-retail-thefts-report

Having the police do their job is one of the reasons tax payers pay taxes. Of course, if liberal D.A.s and judges were putting criminals in jail, there would be less crime for police to have to police. See how that works, and had worked prior to the bleeding heart liberal DemocRats changing the laws? Ever heard of "cause and effect"?

A guy who is running to for the lead attorney job in Chicago claims that he will end the current policy of not prosecuting thefts under $1000.  Libs are baffled why businesses are closing.  Kevin certainly is.

The city has limited resources. And the policy of not choosing to prosecute some of the less serious crimes has existed, EVERYWHERE, for decades.

Businesses "are closing" because that's what businesses do. They also open. They also stay open. Nothing new or unusual about it.

  Bullshit

Kevin's supported solution encourages and exasperates the problem.  No penalty for theft leads to theft.  Theft leads to busness closures.  Business closures lead to fewer tax revenue.  This also leads to Liberals whining about business closures in their neighborhoods.  Kevin's supported Liberal policies are simply not sustainable.
