Meanwhile, millions of kids in red states are being turned into radical white nationalists where they are taught a propagandized version of history omitting historic facts like slavery and racism.
Meanwhile 63% of high school seniors are not proficient at reading or math and need remedial courses if they want to go to college. 19% of high school graduates can't read....and of course that doesn't count the dropouts who can't read.
It's time to scrap the failed public school system and move to a system of parental choice with the money following the student. Then if Mark wants his kids tought that America has always been a worthless racist country he can enroll them in commie schools. If David wants his kids tought that America has had issues but we can overcome them, he can enroll his kids in patriotic schools. I'll enroll my kids in schools that don't teach history but focus on Math, Schience, Reading and Writing....Not commie. Not patriotic. They can read a variey of history books when they actually learn how to read.

I watched the whole thing, including where the reporter following him was asking him questions about his very own statements and teaching methods (during which he refused to face the reporter and comment). At my age (geezer) I realize I have little knowledge of all the radical ideologies and budding terrorists he is hoping to groom; by now I could synthesize what he is doing and draw my own conclusions (likely not at all similar to his). But IMO this is not for that age group. I'm glad he was fired, and hope the 'hearts and minds' he already reached were AP enough to see through the agenda of this single-minded, self-agrandazing prick.
As for Mark's concern about the omission of "historic facts like slavery" in "red states", that is something Mark can campaign about through those education systems (and probably some blue states as well). I'm too old to know what is being taught now, but I do know that Blacks adults are very sensitive about the topic of slavery and not every parent wants the worst of it rubbed in the faces of their young children sitting in mixed (black, white, hispanic, Asian) classrooms.
High school is a captive audience, students subjected to the approved curriculum. Higher education courses provide more detail in topics such as slavery, the holocaust, etc. Students' minds are matured enough by then and can select courses of interest.
However, I'm pretty sure that at least back in the early 60s I knew about slavery and the ugliness of it, though I don't recall it being taught in K-12.
As always, JMHO.

Once again, David Miller spreads ugliness and hate.
Whatever one may think of this person's teaching methods, he's not a "traitor" for doing so.
Also, one should note, the man WAS fired. So in that liberal socialist snowflake radical left-wing paradise that is California, a teacher got fired for teaching left-wing propaganda to his students. Antifa. Antifa!!! ANTIFA ANTIFA ANTIFA!!!!!!!!
The video that David so helpfully supplied shows us that the system works. At least in California. I wonder how well it works in Trump land, where students are taught revisionist history and racial injustice is whitewashed.

Oh, come on...you're scared that if your kids are actually taught history, they'll be turned into "commies"? Shades of the 1950s!
It's extremely important that young people are taught history, because that history affects what happens today. Why does the loser of a Presidential election often "win"--if he's a Republican? Why are Southern states, more than 150 years after the end of the Civil War, still trying to keep Black people from voting? Why do Congressional districts look so bizarrely misshapen on the map?
I want young people to understand that our "democracy" has a lot that needs fixing. They're going to be the ones to try to fix it.

Candy, you're right that AP students are usually mature and sophisticated enough to figure things out for themselves. Perhaps being exposed to extremism might help them when they go home and Dad's avidly watching Fox News.
I notice, though, that you fall into the standard right-wing trap of seizing on ANTIFA ANTIFA ANTIFA and immediately concluding that he's trying to turn his students into "terrorists." I mean, come on. You don't refute extremism by making extreme statements.
I do wonder just how many right-wing ideologues are teaching high school classes right now, particularly in Trump Land. I wonder just how much local outrage is being generated when those teachers tell their students that the "lyin' libs" are trying to destroy America. In how many AP classes are the students being taught (or, "taught") about the Deep State?
I suspect thousands, with not only a lack of outrage among those students' parents but often, enthusiastic approval.
Once again Kevin disparages a posting I made, calling it "spreading ugliness and hate". My posting of the video showing the result of ultra radical, twisted liberal teachings needed to be shown. There is no place in America for traitors like this so called "teacher".
A teacher did something grossly inappropriate. He will lose his job.
There's no grand conclusion to be made here. It should be noted, however, that the person posting all the faux outrage videos is himself an extreme right-wing propagandist.
That guy's message was, "SEE WHAT THE LIBS ARE DOING!!! ANTIFA ANTIFA ANTIFA!!! STOP THE STEAL!!!!! OBAMA IS A SPACE ALIEN!" (etc. etc. etc.)
It's about the actions of one person. The liberal commie snowflake school board is indeed removing him. I wonder how many right-wing extremist teachers in Trump Land are being similarly removed.
If someone took the time to view the videos I post they would find that there is no "faux outrage" - just the truth. Apparently Kevin "thinks", (if that is possible), that anyone who stands up for what is right is, in his twisted opinion, considered an "extreme right-wing propagandist" - well so be it.
