Censorship

One of the crtiques of Social Media platforms is the massive amount of false information that is prevelant upon them (enter David Miller).      One of the biggest contributors to this dynamic is the sitting presdient of the UNited States who has been measured to lie over 18,000 times since taking office.   

In an effort to combat this destructive passage of lies Twitter has now automated fact-checking on their platform which offers readers the ability to sort out truth from bullshit.     This has enraged the sitting president who is furious about the idea of his base of knuckleheads actually seeing through his ongoing con.    He has now threatened to shut down social media sites unless they let his lies continue to spread unchecked.

History teaches is fascism takes hold when leaders can trick the public into believing them over the free press.

Fascist leaders also shut down, or threaten to, media outlets that displease them.

Trump's threats shouldn't be taken lightly. They are a direct attack on our democracy.

I'd be much more delighted if there was an automoated fact-check on this board ala Twitter.    

There's not enough hours in the day for me to tend to it.

I don't have or ever have used/read anything on twitter.

Because of Trump's executive order calling for the removal of the safe harbor, sites like the LVA may have no choice but to shut down.  That is if Trump follows through with it.

Under the current rules, if I claim a Trump supporter here was one of the hillbillys in deliverance, the Trump supporter could file suit against me saying I defamed his good name, but he could not file suit against the LVA. Currently, the safe harbor rule says sites aren't responsible for their user's comments. 

However, under Trump's rule, the person could decide it wasn't worthwhile to file suit against me when they could file suit against the LVA.  The LVA would be responsible for all of its user's comments.

Trump says he is doing this to fight censorship but in actuality, his rule would lead to more censorship.

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube would have to pre-moderate every comment made on their platforms before they allowed them to post.

Liberals call it a fact that Trump is racist for stopping illegal immigration of people from all colors.  Talk about lies!

If Anthony wants to shut down the Sink, I would be fine with it. 

Last year COngress reemed out the Social Media networks on Capital Hill for allowing untrue political propoganda to pervade their networks unfiltered.    Twitter has stepped up to the plate and addressed Congress' concerns by putting unbiased fact checking on posts that are flagrantly untrue.     

And guess who is hurt the most by that ?   And who now wants unfiltered lies back?   The same scumbag Republicans led by the biggest scumbag liar in the White House.

Trump's base rally's behind the guy who fabricated a murder comitted by someone he deems a political opponent....that's their truth.   Everyone else sides with pultiizer prize winning reporting and fact checking.    And those are the lines of the war.     Pretty sad isn't it?
