Chain of Republican logic

Recent unemployment data came out. The surprisingly low figure was 13.3%. Trump pranced around the White House lawn. Republicans immediately said they would not approve any further stimulus money, since everything was obviously going to be swell, in time for the election.

Except, there was one problem. Or should I say, several problems.

The first was that the data were wrong. Five million furloughed workers weren't counted, because a furloughed worker is technically still employed. Nevertheless, they're supposed to be counted but weren't counted this time. If they had, the reported unemployment rate would have been over 16%.

The second was that the drop in unemployment was because the Paycheck Protection money that was part of the stimulus package had finally gotten to small businesses. You know, that stimulus package that was crafted by Democrats and passed through the House despite Republican opposition.*

*Check out how many House Republicans voted against it.

The trouble with that? The Paycheck Protection program is only funded through the beginning of July. And Moscow Mitch and his fellow Republiholes have said that even if the House approves additional stimulus money, they'll block the bill. So come July, the unemployment rate will shoot up again.

So, to recap: Trump and the Republiholes are crowing about a drop in unemployment rates that is due to the implementation of a program they fought tooth and nail to stop; they are using that drop as a pretext to block further aid, even though doing that will wipe out the recent employment gains; and they fudged the data to make the unemployment rate look lower than it actually is.

Do these scumwads have anything on their minds other than reelecting the Orange Asshole?

More wrongly analyzed bullshit from Kevin. Once the President is proven correct again and the economy rebounds with lower unemployment numbers, Kevin will, once again claim it is Obama's economy.

Kevin lies again. More democrats voted against the Cares Act than Republicans. This was after the Democrats held it up for 2 weeks trying to fund their pet projects.

The furloughed workers stat means nothing without knowing how many furloughed workers there were in April.

With more states returning from house arrest, the employment numbers should continue to get better.

Idiot Tom, no states have ever been under "house arrest." At no time were people ever forbidden to leave their homes. There was a lot of whining about lockdown restrictions, but you could always go out for exercise, essentials, or to work.

Idiot Tom, an unemployment number reflects the PRESENT state of unemployment--not the CHANGE in unemployment. The May figure did not consider what the number had been in April. The number given was wrong, and that was almost certainly due to Republican efforts to fudge the numbers to make Trump look better, as that rather huge mistake (or, "mistake") had never been made before.

Idiot Tom, you should look up the HOUSE vote on the bill. But you won't.

And when the Paycheck Protection Act money runs out in four weeks and small businesses are no longer able to keep their workers on the payroll, what do you think your orange hero will pull out of his ass to save the world?

Trump hasn't been "proven correct" even once. Remember when he said this would all be over by the first of June? Hilarious.

Remember when the TDS crowd said this was no big deal.  Then they said 2 million would die. They are always wrong.

If everything is closed there is no place to go. If you lost your job, then you can't go to work.

Kevin obviously doesn't understand sarcasm when I say house arrest.

If the the furloughed workers were the same in April as they are in May, they have no effect on the drop in unemployment.

The Cares Act passed 419-6.

If you count them as unemployed in April but don't count them in May, that will produce an artificial drop in the unemployment rate.

Idiot.

If "everything is closed," then you can still go for a walk. You also could still visit essential services such as grocery stores and doctors, even at the height of the lockdowns. You would think that Tom would know what house arrest actually is.

And sorry, Tom, it's hard to tell when you're being sarcastic or just routinely Trumper-stupid.

Tami is trumper-stupid.
