Chicago public school spending vs something reasonable

If liberal systems are to blame then liberal states would produce fewer college grads then red states....,and you wouldn't be forced to cherry pick a single school district to make your point.

but of course the opposite is true as collective data proves which is why you present the argument the way you do.

Illinois, ny, California and Massachusetts create more college grads per capita then Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina and West Virginia.     I know that's frustrating for you, Tom, but it's true.   And it's also why those college educated people vote for Democrats across the country in greater number than Republicans.   They want their kids educated too.

PJ , why do you feel the need to twist the truth?  Chicago is a part of Cook County.  The town where  I grew up, also in Cook County, has conservative politicians and conservative school boards.  The kids are educated well.  Virtually every big city school districtin the United States got large pay raises while shutting down schools forever during Covid.  Liberals suck and children are paying the price.

Your Cook County schools where you grew up pay teachers the same as Chicago.    Because Illinois requires it.      Most of your school's money is budgeted by the state with secondary funding coming from local property tax.    Illinois also has a teacher union which protects their job and pay.    That's a big reason why your taxes were higher in Illinois compared to Indiana.    So when you try to make some bullshit argument that your Illinois school district is under some different budget or administrative philosophy then Chicago  you are being as dishonest as your narrative about Oak St Beach

And you never answered my question.... do you think inner city families in Chicago are of the same demographic as your middle class suburban town?      And do you think that plays a role in their education?

So you are saying it is okay to pass a student who is possibly performing at two or three grade levels below  for sports.  Or are you saying that we can't hold these kids back in 1st grade or 2nd because it would cause an imbalance for teachers because we are short in those areas , or is  graduation from grade to next grade just a right in todays world regardless of what is learned

I didn't say it was "OK." Don't twist my words. I simply pointed out one of many reasons why there's pressure to not hold back students.

The potential imbalance you mention isn't because "we're short." NO classroom and NO teacher could weather a major increase in class size. It would certainly be detrimental for kids to be, say, one in 45 instead of one in 30.

I don't think you read my earlier reply very carefully. I said that there should be clear standards for passing a grade level. If those standards aren't met, hold them back--but performing or not performing to "grade level" is a terrible criterion to use.

Boiler, your numbers were grossly inaccurate and wildly distorted, but we didn't bother to point that out because your basic premise was so very, very incorrect, and it was better to focus on exploding it

However, if you'd like, I can also show that you pulled your numbers out of your ass.
