Cirque du Soleil Bankrupt

Montreal-based live entertainment company Cirque du Soleil announced today it has filed for protection from creditors under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (CCCA) in order to restructure, and its application under the CCCA will be heard Tuesday by the Superior Court of Quebec. If the court grants the order, the company will seek immediate provisional recognition in the United States under Chapter 15 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

I hope they make it back.

They will survive on some level, although they will have less shows.

And the ramifications of shutting down the economy continue.

Boiler, you say some really, really stupid things. Cirque would have had a drastic dropoff in revenues no matter what--even if no social distancing had ever been mandated. And if somehow they had gone on performing and people had crowded in to see them, there would have been thousands of infections and hundreds of deaths as a result.

The economy hasn't been "shut down." It's been slowed down, in order to save lives. You think that lives don't matter. Repulsive. Reprehensible. Evil.
