“This is a classic post. Read Mark's attacks on budget deficits and debts increasing. Then he is giddy about a socialist winning a primary. I watched and listened to the interview you linked to. Free college for all, free health care for all, guaranteed jobs for all, raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hour, free housing for everyone here because having a home is a "right". The last plank I mentioned included statements by the those doing the interview and the candidate pointed to vacant luxury homes in NYC. Give it all away to everyone who "needs it."
All of that stuff costs money...a boatload of money. Screw the national debt and deficits
You don't, and never will, get it, that when democrats experience failure at the ballot box, moving even farther left toward socialism is what most people DON'T want. “
I appreciate that you took the time to watch the video. Most here would have just shot off their mouth without having bothered.
It is a matter of priorities Bob. Every outstanding student loan in this country could have been paid off for less than the cost of the Trump tax cut. It would have had a much larger stimulative effect than the Trump tax cuts did. As to health care costs, we currently have the most expensive system in the world as we did before Obamacare. Among developed 1st world countries, we rank in the bottom half for most outcomes.
If you looked at the CBO projections during the Obamacare debate the least expensive and most efficient healthcare system, we could adopt would be a single payer with universal coverage. It is costing us more money to have the inefficient crap system that we have today. We have all these middlemen that do nothing other than shuffle paper (insurance companies + pharmacy benefits managers) that skim large sums of money off every healthcare transaction. It is time for them to be shown the door.
As far as people not wanting socialism, how far would a candidate in either party get if they said they wanted to eliminate all socialist policies starting with Social Security, Medicare, and public schools? Then have them turn to his or her corporate donors and say there are going to be no more property tax abatements or other slush funds provided by the government to your business because it is socialism.
