Congratulations To Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez For Her Upset Victory

“This is a classic post. Read Mark's attacks on budget deficits and debts increasing. Then he is giddy about a socialist winning a primary. I watched and listened to the interview you linked to. Free college for all, free health care for all, guaranteed jobs for all, raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hour, free housing for everyone here because having a home is a "right". The last plank I mentioned included statements by the those doing the interview and the candidate pointed to vacant luxury homes in NYC. Give it all away to everyone who "needs it."

All of that stuff costs money...a boatload of money. Screw the national debt and deficits

You don't, and never will, get it, that when democrats experience failure at the ballot box, moving even farther left toward socialism is what most people DON'T want. “

I appreciate that you took the time to watch the video. Most here would have just shot off their mouth without having bothered.

It is a matter of priorities Bob.  Every outstanding student loan in this country could have been paid off for less than the cost of the Trump tax cut. It would have had a much larger stimulative effect than the Trump tax cuts did. As to health care costs, we currently have the most expensive system in the world as we did before Obamacare. Among developed 1st world countries, we rank in the bottom half for most outcomes.

If you looked at the CBO projections during the Obamacare debate the least expensive and most efficient healthcare system, we could adopt would be a single payer with universal coverage. It is costing us more money to have the inefficient crap system that we have today.  We have all these middlemen that do nothing other than shuffle paper (insurance companies + pharmacy benefits managers) that skim large sums of money off every healthcare transaction. It is time for them to be shown the door.

As far as people not wanting socialism, how far would a candidate in either party get if they said they wanted to eliminate all socialist policies starting with Social Security, Medicare, and public schools?  Then have them turn to his or her corporate donors and say there are going to be no more property tax abatements or other slush funds provided by the government to your business because it is socialism.

Medicare/Social security has a 60 trillion unfunded deficit, which is not even counted in the federal deficit.  So how is that socialist program working out?

Why should I work to pay for someone elses school debt?

US cancer/heart survival rates are among the highest in the world.

Here's truth for anyone smart enough to dismss the snakeoil salemanship of dynamic scoring.

If you want to balance the budget you have to either:

(A) raise taxes

(B) cut retirement programs

(C) move to a socialist healtcare system that costs half as much as ours with the same outcomes and life expectancies:    Like socialist Sweden, Canada, UK or Japan.

Republicans typically choose (B) until they present that idea to their constituents.   And thats when you get dynamically scored legislation like the law causing the mess we have now.

If the public is honestly presented with those three options they will overwhelmingly pick (C).    I suspect thats where we are headed ultimately.

C is false because you are using a flowed metric of life expectancty.  Americans life expectancy is reduced by their own self inflicted wounds of homicide, drug, alcohol abuse, suicide, automobiles & obesity.  America also used a strict definition of infant mortality, while other countries put in exceptions to show better rates

When one looks at cancer/heart survivor rates it is among the highest in the world.

PJ & company ignore the fact in option B that social security is a bankrupt Ponzi scheme.

Then there is option D, which the democrats/liberals never consider - reduce spending

If you really want to balance the budget, you 1) get ALL of the freeloaders off of welfare and food stamps, 2) end illegal immigration and ALL of the U. S. citizen tax payer funded handouts, 3) end global welfare ( so called foreign aid) to all nations who are anti America,4) keep making tariff adjustments til "fair trade" is a fact instead of a lie.

Democrats/liberals never consider?    Have you been paying attention to who is running Congress right now?

Tell me where you get over 1 trillion dollars annually to reduce spending to get to a balanced budget.

Your favorite line item "Food Stamps" which costs 80 billion annually.

David Miller's favorite line item "foreign Aid" is 50 billion.

Mitt Romney's favorite line item "PBS" is less than 1 billion.

Trump's favorite line item "Natinal Endowment for the Arts" is less than 1 billion

You've got about 860 billion to go, Tom.  And thats assuming the deficit is only 1 trillion which is an incredibly conservative estimate.     Show us what spending you cut that doesn't impact peoples' retirement benefits.

God I just love listening to Mark and PJ whine.....it's music to my ears.  One thing I've learned over many years here......if they are for it, I'm against it.  And if they are against it, I am for it!  Today is a wonderful day if you aren't looking at life through your red colored glasses.  Now I'm off to listen to the how the looney left will try to stop the President from making another excellent Supreme Court choice.  Have a pleasant day all.

The total amount spent on 83 overlaping welfare programs is roughly 1.03 TRILLION dollars a year. Add 80 billion for food stamps and foreign aid of 50 billion and you have a huge step in the right direction. Twist those figures P J , I and the rest of the sane world await ...

Break that down for me.  Show me the federal dollar amounts spent on welfare programs you speak of.      GIve me the program names and dollar amounts.

Look it up yourself, as I did.
