I'll let you in on a secret.  He doesnt have one.

https://www.budget.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/CRS%20Report%20-%20Welfare%20Spending%20The%20Largest%20Item%20In%20The%20Federal%20Budget.pdf

The report in question cited by David was produced by a Jeff Sessions’ headed committee in 2011 and is a partisan document. In fact, it is merely a carbon copy of a report produced annually by the conservative Cato Institute.

The Washington Post broke down the problems with a newer version of this report and concluded, “The federal government spends just $212 billion per year on what we could reasonably call “welfare.” That number includes the working poor that get the earned income credit. It also includes the cost of Medicaid the bulk of which goes to elderly white folks in the nursing home.

Seems simple enough to me if you are serious about reducing the cost of welfare.  Create a less expensive healthcare system as PJ and I have mentioned, and raise the minimum wage to a living wage drastically lowering the number of people that would qualify for the earned income credit, food stamps and Medicaid.  Both of these solutions would cost the government nothing.

Nice sidestepping- but it won't wash.

How is that sidestepping? You posted a partisan advocacy piece. A natural party that broke down the report says the real number is $212 billion per year.

Ooo...I’m impressed.  Really.  David Miller provided a link from a reputable source to make an intelligent point instead of just complaining about liberals.   This is big progress.  But he is going to have to read his own source again because he is not citing it quite accurately.

according to the provided  source as it defines “welfare”programs ....it accounts for 780 billion dollars a year of federal dollars and includes the food stamp program we already addressed.   And Medicaid.   And a long list of other programs that I would encourage people to read..   lots of elderly and disabled people type programs.

But the math gets pretty close....

We can abolish medicaid, food stamps, school lunch programs, CHIP healthcare for kids, foreign aid, and big bird.....and we wold only have about 100 billion left to reconcile.   Sounds like a great platform for the midterms.   I pray a republican runs on it.

have a great day

I only "complain" about liberals because all they do is complain - without giving or having any solutions for their percieved complaints.

I just gave you two solutions to cutting the cost of welfare programs that wouldn't cost the government anything.

You want an affordable health care sysyem, talk to the Democrats. Raising minimun wage, which is not intended to be a living wage, just causes the cost of goods to go up and hours cut by employers in order to stay in business. A step in the right direction would be to have schools actually educate students so that they would have a skill set that would allow them to support themselves. Make people earn their money by actually doing some work. I and millions of American citizens are tired of seeing our hard earned tax dollars being given to those who don't deserve that money. Get off of your dead asses and get a job. Enough with the excuses.
