Congratulations To Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez For Her Upset Victory

Sexual assault? You prudes make me laugh- "locker room" talk is just that. Apparently neither of you have ever "boasted" about real or imagined conquests with the other guys. And you obviously don't think that women don't do the same. You two should get out of your Mom's basement sometime and join in the real world. Then again, stay where you are - the real world would scare the prude out of you.

Sure, when I was in junior high and high school the guys would talk about girls they had been with and how far they had gotten. But none of them ever bragged about forcing themselves on a girl or doing something to a girl without her consent. If you forced yourself on a girl in some way, you were considered a loser and guys that got caught doing stuff like were given a good beating by their male classmates or the upperclassmen. This was in addition to any punishment the school or law enforcement handed out to the person.

Then as we got older and out Jr. High and High School, most of us matured to the point where we realized it wasn't right to demean someone that was considerate enough to have some sort of consensual sexual relationship with us.

I can't fathom a 70-year-old man thinking it is ok to brag about sexually assaulting women.

Typical of Mark & PJ, when losing a debate or in this case finding out their new knight in shining armor has many dents, they change the subject

There is no debate.  A Trump zealot is throwing rocks on the grounds of dishonesty.

What do you have next, Tom?  Are you upset she wont show you her tax returns?

Nope, Tom, I can't have a constructive debate with someone that is delusional. I posted her original bio from the Wayback machine. You are welcome to go look yourself. If I recollect correctly, you also thought Obama's birth certificate was fake and that he was born in Kenya. I suspect you also believed in Pizzagate and Operation Jade Helm. Although, I suppose there is some irony in the whole Jade Helm thing. Conservatives thought Obama was going to lock them up in shuttered big-box retail stores.  Now conservatives are locking up babies in shuttered big-box retail stores.

Like I said, you can't have a constructive debate with someone that is delusional.

"Like I said, you can't have a constructive debate with someone that is delusional." ------- As you can see, Tom, you and I are wasting our time trying to debate PJ and Mark.

Wow, she just won another primary as a write-in where she wasn't even on the ballot.

Shockingly - and I'm told this is not a joke - we have ALSO won a primary in the neighboring 15th Congressional District via write-in campaign on the Reform line!" Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter before going on to say she will reject the nomination and remain the Democratic nomination in the 14th district, which includes parts of the Bronx and Queens.

Soruce

Although questions addressing character and honesty of a candidate may be the most important, they are also often the most likely to be obscured in the heat of political dispute.

The next issue of importance is what does the person herself say she stands for.  If one agrees with her positions one can investigate her character flaws, . . . just in case.

So, what is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (AOC) platform:

xand

 1. Medicare For All  [This suggests expansion of an expensive Federal Program;  at least she recognizes the failure of Obamacare.  DonDiego is better off with the health insurance he has.]

 2. A Federal Jobs Guarantee  [Doesn't the Government usually overpay for just about everything?  Umm, . . . DonDiego doesn't like it.]

3. Immigration Justice / Abolish ICE  [DonDiego is in favor of justice, but not sure how AOC defines it.  The mission of ICE is to to promote homeland security and public safety by enforcing U.S. federal criminal and civil laws concerning border control, customs, trade, and immigration.  DonDiego opines this is a worthy mission, . . . somebody's gotta do it.]

4. Clean Campaign Finance / Public Funding of Elections.  [The likely only method of funding elections less efficiently and honestly than the present system would be to entrust it to The Federal Government.]

5. Support LGBTQIA+. [DonDiego isn't sure exactly what all them letters mean, . . . and the plus-sign worries him.]

6.  Housing as a Human Right.   [DonDiego opines things like "life", "liberty", and the "pursuit of happiness" are rights; a right cannot be dependent on the effort of others.]

7.  Gun Control / Assault Weapons Ban.  [ Assault weapons are already severely restrictly; DonDiego opines an amendment to the Constitution would be necessary and is unlikely.]

8. Solidarity with Puerto Rico.  [ DonDiego doesn't know what this means and is too lazy to look it up.]

9.  Higher Education / Trade School for All.  [This suggests an expensive Federal Program.  DonDiego worked after high-school hours from the age of 15 to earn money for college; his parents contributed; loans took care of the rest.  If it was good enough for DonDiego it's good enough.]

10.  Support Seniors.  [Details provided come down to a massive expansion of Social Security.  Hey, it's already set to run out of money !]

11.  A Peace Economy.  [ Details include: "Alexandria believes that we must end the 'forever war' ".  Poor old DonDiego actually agrees with this goal;  he opines Ms. Ocasio-Cortez thinks it easier than it is;  he opines it is unachievable.]

12.  Criminal Justice Reform, End Private Prisons.  [<yawn>]

13.  Mobilizing Against Climate Change.  [<yawn>]

14.  Women's Rights.  [<double-yawn>]

15.  Curb Wall Street Gambling:Restore Glass-Steagall.  [Holy-Moly.   Poor old DonDiego actually agrees with this proposal.  Nonetheless, he suspects a clean clean change in the law  unlikely, . . . and a messy change less desireable.]

Some of those positions like housing are specific to the needs of her district. I.e. affordable housing is being torn down to make way for luxury condos displacing long-term residents of the community.

Its not Cortez's obligation to make everyone happy.  And its not DonDiego's obligation to agree with her.

What I like about her is her courage to offer specifics so people like DonDeigo and (more importantly) her constituents can make an informed decision about what she stands for.

For example - her healthcare plan is not "something wonderful thats going to be way cheaper and cover everybody".   Instead she lets you know plain and simple that she supports government run single payer insurance that is free of the corrupting variables that dominate our current system...and it will be paid for with your tax dollars.     You dont have to like it.    But at least its an honest answer to a very real issue.   Until Republicans can show the courage to do the same they have no business critiquing people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Translation: If republicans don't start advocating marxism, they have no right to free speech. How totalitarian of you!
