Contrary to media claims, urban crime is still on the rise

Violent crime in urban areas has risen 40% from 2019 to 2023, with property crime up 26%, according to the NCVS. Media narratives claiming crime is declining are contradicted by NCVS data showing no statistical decrease in violent or property crime. FBI data is considered less reliable due to incomplete law enforcement reporting and a flawed new system implemented in 2021. -Contrary to mainstream media narratives, crime rates in America’s cities are not falling, argues Jeffrey H. Anderson in his Wall Street Journal op-ed titled "Contrary to Media Myth, U.S. Urban Crime Rates Are Up." Highlighting data from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), Anderson warns that "urban crime is far worse than it was in the pre-George Floyd era," refuting recent claims made by media figures like ABC's David Muir, who suggested crime was declining. Anderson points to a 40% increase in urban violent crime and a 26% rise in urban property crime from 2019 to 2023, based on NCVS findings. Unlike the FBI's data, which has been plagued by reporting inconsistencies, the NCVS provides a comprehensive look at both reported and unreported crimes. As Anderson explains, "55% of violent crimes and 70% of property crimes in 2023 were not reported to police," a factor that significantly impacts crime statistics. - According to Anderson, the FBI's crime data is less reliable than the NCVS for several reasons. He emphasizes that the NCVS data is finalized, not preliminary, and covers crimes whether reported to police or not. By comparison, the FBI data, "lacks information from key law enforcement agencies" and fails to capture most crimes, which Anderson argues distorts the reality of crime trends. Anderson warns that the urban crime surge since 2020 shows no signs of slowing, underscoring the consequences of defund-the-police movements and other social experiments. "Thanks to the success of 'broken windows' policing in the 1990s and 2000s, we know what works," he concludes, calling for a return to proven law enforcement strategies to curb rising crime. -https://mxmnews.com/article/caf52a14-16f6-4391-a967-bc2b979cd7cb?contrary-to-media-claims-urban-crime-is-still-on-the-rise

Who are you going to believe, the FBI or an editorial from Fox News?

David's answer to your question is, "I'll believe whoever says what I want to hear."

Aside from that, focusing on one particular aspect/segment of a problem because doing so magnifies your particular grievance is fundamentally, intellectually dishonest.

AND...how does this "NCVS" attain omniscience...claiming to know about all unreported crime in the US??? From what, a SURVEY??? Of how many people? A couple hundred? A thousand? Assuming any real survey was conducted at all!

What a bunch of stupid horseshit from Millerscum.
