Cool! My Mobile Connection Is Over 190 Mbps Now

I just spent a couple of hours on the phone with Sprint.  They switched the Sprint Towers off in my area on Thursday. Since then, I was lucky to get 5Mbps if anything at all in my area.

After getting transferred through three other people, they put me through to a guy that called himself a Network Engineer. After some troubleshooting, he concluded the T-Mobile towers weren't going to work in my area for me.  He switched me to their new system which is in beta that utilizes both Sprint and T-mobile towers and wow. He told me the new system was going to get even faster before they bring everyone online.

Normally, I'd get 60-70 Mbps on the old Sprint system. My fiber optic through the phone company at home suddenly seems antiquated.

is that 5G ?    I have Sprint too .... the 4G network.   It kinda sucks but its cheap so I deal with it.     

It almost seems like with 5G you can use your phone as a wireless router for your entire home and turn off your cable internet.      But I'm sure they'll charge more for the 5g plans though

Its their 5g network. He said if I hadn't just upgraded to a new phone with 5g capability I'd be sol. The last test I just ran came back at 272 Mbps. 

I suspect in Indy there isn't much speed difference in 4g service between T-mobile and Sprint.  You probably won't be able to tell the difference when they  switch the Sprint towers off.

I have Verizon 4G. I had a separate mobile hotspot for several years, because while my phone had a data plan, it had a pretty severe data limit. Since then, they've offered an unlimited plan (though you get throttled way back if you exceed the data cap), so the hotspot is redundant--but I still have to pay for the line and the device for two years. Assholes.

Verizon's coverage isn't as good as they claim. But it's their billing policies that are making me considering switching. I'm giving them over $100 a month. For that, I get locked into plans for much longer than I want them.

sprint is $60 / month for unlimited everyth8ng.   But does not include Canada / Mexico. And their coverage is easily the worst of the three big players.    

You’re mostly fine in populated areas but once you get out in the sticks it’s about 50/50.
