One question puzzling researchers is why the death rate from the coronavirus has been so high in China as opposed to other locations.
I hypothesized that it might be due to relatively poor health care there. Turns out, there's another data set to support that hypothesis--Iran. Iran's healthcare system is in shambles from the effects of economic sanctions. While the nation has good doctors and nurses, virtually all of its medical and diagnostic equipment is obsolete. Furthermore, the sanctions have made it impossible for Iran to buy testing kits. The coronavirus is spreading like wildfire there and there have already been over 200 deaths.
Therefore, it would seem that an advanced country with good diagnostics and medical infrastructure would not be subject to the same kind of high mortality rate. The US, despite the efforts of the Orange Orangutan, is ready to combat the coronavirus. The exposure/mortality rate will likely be 200:1 or greater.
There's something else to consider. We know that most of the coronavirus fatalities were of people with already compromised respiratory systems. Many people in China smoke--and men smoke more than women. Preliminary data indicate that far more than half of the coronavirus fatalities in China were men. Of course, they are still being secretive about their casualties.
So the ones in the US who should really be worried are those who smoke and those who already have some kind of respiratory disease. Seems like a good reason to stay out of casinos for the time being (everyone smokes there).
