Cover-up

The Republicans didn't have the principles to call witnesses in the Trump trial. They're in lockstep with the White House and are no longer even pretending that they're senators--they're just Trump stooges who serve him without question.

Now we move on--to Trump crowing that he was "acquitted" and "exonerated," and to where we start to boil the Republican senators in oil. Every single one of those assholes who is up for reelection this November should be relentlessly, tirelessly assaulted with the fact that they didn't uphold their oath. Licking Trump's balls should and will have a political cost.

In a way, this is a superior outcome to even a successful impeachment (which would result in His Royal Penceness anyway). Trump is going to lose in November (barring a massive Democrat fuckup, which cannot be ruled out, unfortunately), and this way, he'll drag half a dozen Republican senators down with him.

Another result of the Republican wrecking of the impeachment trial is that now, Biden has even more ammunition against Trump. He'll have the moral and emotional high ground against the Orange Asshole who attacked his son. Frankly, he's about my twelfth choice among the various Democratic candidates, but I think he has the best chance to defeat Trump, and that "trumps" all other considerations.

I think alot of moderates would give Senators like Joni Ernst a pass if she just vote to aquit.   But blocking testimony from eyewitnesses?....that's going to prove to be a big mistake for her and all the other Repbulicans up for reelection.     

I already felt pretty good about Democrats taking back the WHite House next year.   I think this officially gives them the Senate too.    I wouldn't be surprised to see Moscow Mitch lose his seat.

I don't know if Mitch could be voted out in deep-red Dumbtucky. He's a hero to Tucky Buckford and Clem Cornpone, performing yeoman service for his constituents such as taking away their health care and destroying their jobs. Y'know, conservatism.

I'd be fine if he just became Senate minority leader. Right now, he has too much power and no moral scruples whatsoever--a dangerous combination.

I look forward to the day when being a Republican is about as socially acceptable as being a member of the Klan. With today's vote in the Senate, Mitch and the Monkeys will take a giant step toward that shining goal.

First the democrats had to rush this to save the country, so they didn't have the time to go thru with a Bolton subpoena.  Then pelosi held it up for 30+ days to order her pens. She also said it was an open & shut case. Then the democrats said they needed witnesses.

The only consistent thing was their inconsistency.
